Artist, mainly painting, among other things. Looking for beauty and meaning in the familiar and the everyday. Penchant for loud guitars and the occasional good whisky. No NFTs, so don't ask. https://alanski.blogspot.com/

Real frosted glass on my studio windows this morning. #frozen #grimupnorth #jackfrost #Coldhands #morningvibes

My contribution to The Great Big Art Gallery. A project in our village where people make art and display It in their windows. Good motivation to get the easel out and splash some paint around on a sunny day. #DH7 #CoDurham #Greatbigartgallery

Bit of outdoor gouache painting going on. #pleinair #landscapepainting #DH7 #TheHut

The old glass palette & scraper combo is always very satisfying. #studioartist #oilpainting

This morning's bike ride was wet and muddy. The seat of my pants looks like a scene from The Somme, circa 1916. I took a photo of the pylons as they were limbering up to carry all the breakfast electricity to a million kettles and toasters. #MorningVibes #cycling

A few shots from Saturday night in The Flass #supportlivemusic #DH7 #supportmusicvenues #CoDurham #livemusic

Thirsty Thursday in my local. Pen & Ink, and a pint of Guinness for inspiration. #supportyourlocal #pubdrawing #Thursdayvibes #penandink #drawing #DH7

Early morning cycle ride. Milder and windy. Stopped for a photo under a bridge. Hello... #hellokitty #cycling #MorningVibes #DH7 #CoDurham

This morning's bike ride was accompanied by the novelty of a dawn sky and a first chorus from the tweety McTweeters which will get louder and louder from here to early summer. I saw two white-bummed deer and a hare legging it across field in a hurry to somewhere. #moringvibes

Rocking the Rum Pot in Chester-le-Street on Saturday night. Great venue, great crowd and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. #supportlivemusic #supportmusicvenues Next gig, The Flass in Ushaw Moor. #CoDurham #DH7 Shout out to Chris Wilson for the photos.

Some finished 'critters' paintings/print collages. also called 'Other Worlds'. All originated from drawings of stones #otherworlds #womenartists #collage #paintings #colour

Vet's waiting room with people and dogs. A liminal space with panting and barking. Some tails wag and others between the legs. Indian ink and white Posca pen. #drawing #liminal #waiting #penandink

Extra layers are good on a 10 mile cycle in freezing fog, until you stop for a pee. Regardless, I still made it and got the camera out. #Sundaymotivation #bestpartoftheday #photography #cycling #landscapephotography #DH7 #CoDurham

Scintillating conversation. The new opium of the masses. Sucked into the pointless gloop of short attention span digital content. #pencildrawing #antisocialmedia #peoplewatching #phoneaddict

The moonie moon, oozing out of the misty morning sky and winking through the trees. The things you see on an early morning cycle ride when everyone is still tucked up in bed. There were also owls and deer, but they were too quick for me. #morningvibes #goodmorning #moon #luna

In Transit. Newton Aycliffe Shell station. Watching the comings and goings of the great tapestry of life stopping to fill up on diesel and Greggs. #transit #urbanlandscape #drawing #vandrawing #ontheroad @grimartgroup.bsky.social

Getting ready for the first early morning cycle ride of the year. No lycra, no helmet, no Go-Pro. Good lights, strong coffee, puncture repair kit and a hat. #cycling #WednesdayMotivation I shall report back

An angel who claims they don't belong in this hell will have to take it up with our customer service chat bot. I shall put you on hold until the next one is available.

I have many fine guitars and amps, and associated paraphernalia, but the trusty old Telecaster & Marshall combo still gives me the goosebumps. Had this pair of beauties since the mid 90s. #Saturdayvibes #guitarporn #marshall #fender #telecaster

Long ago. First nightshift cutting trees on a railway. Long, hot night of chain oil, machines and noise. Sweat and dog-tired bloodshot eyes. Grafting hard, mouth dry as sawdust. I came across a damson tree, laden with ripe fruit, glowing in our floodlights. I can still taste the sweetness now.

The insanity of cars. The mad-dash commute home. Work in progress. It's got a way to go but I'm having fun with this one. Evening dodgems on the Middlesbrough flyover as the sun sets. #urbanlandscape #greatcareconomy #oiloncanvas #WIP #oilpainting

"Are you painting flowers to suppress violent urges?" "No, I'm working on illustrations for a botany book, I'm tired, I'm behind schedule, I'm hungry and my studio heater is broken, so shut up with the stupid questions and make me some coffee before I stab you in the eyeball with a paintbrush."

Beauty everywhere.

Allow the paint to behave like paint. Detail. Work in progress. Painting rooted in reality, but letting the branches grow where they want. #oilpainting #paintingthoughts #studio

Nothing as vicious as a pack of teens... until the WiFi dropped out.
