At the heart of this is a husband. A father of three. Abrego Garcia is still sitting in an inhumane Salvadoran prison having his character defamed because the Trump Admin would rather resort to defiance, disinformation, and dehumanization than own the mistake they admitted to.

Those of us with the privilege of US citizenship need to speak out. Not only because basic decency and empathy for the injustice others face should compel us to action. But also because, as history tells us, authoritarians never stop with their first targets.

Worth a serious read!

The Trump Admin admitted they mistakenly sent Abrego Garcia to El Salvador. Then, they defied the 9-0 SCOTUS order anyway and lied about Abrego Garcia. Now, Trump says he wants to send citizens there, too. This is what authoritarian escalation looks like.

Frankly, even if you argue that the Supreme Court intended a narrower meaning of the word “facilitate,” the Trump Admin would still be in defiance of this ruling. The Trump Admin is doing nothing to try and facilitate Garcia’s return. In fact, they’re doing the exact opposite.

The Trump Admin keeps lying and calling Garcia a gang member without credible evidence because they want to shift the narrative. The truth: They’re defying a SCOTUS order to facilitate the return of a man with no criminal record they admit they mistakenly sent to a foreign gulag.

The Trump Admin had an opportunity to show even an ounce of human decency and get El Salvador to return the innocent man they admitted was mistakenly deported. Instead, they doubled down and say they also want to do this to US citizens. The authoritarian depravity is unreal.

What Trump is doing to innocent immigrants is bad enough. Now, he’s seeking to do the same to US citizens. Trump is beta testing assaults on our civil liberties. The courts need to more forcefully shut this down before it goes any further. Anything short is enabling him.

For the record, Garcia is not a terrorist and has no criminal record. The Trump Administration has already admitted it mistakenly deported him. The Supreme Court has unanimously ordered the Trump Administration to “facilitate” his return.

I approach Trump 2 differently. 1st term—I was 24, working nonstop, documenting every single day. 2nd term—I’m letting myself have a life (have my fiancée to thank for pulling me away from my laptop lol). I think clearer, work smarter. This fight is a marathon, not a sprint. Balance > Burnout.

Political analyst @ahmedbaba.bsky.social spoke with @johnfugelsang.bsky.social about Project 2025 and Trump’s authoritarian ambitions.

Trump's mood is now an economic indicator. If you’re a business or a foreign country, you now have to analyze the volatile mindset of a president who could wake up any day and decide to unilaterally tank the global economy. This is an unsustainable level of uncertainty.

This was so pointless. But the damage is done. The egomaniacal president’s mood is now an economic indicator. U.S. trade policy continuity is dead. It could take decades of consistency to rebuild the trust Trump has shattered in less than three months.

I want to know what trades were made by members of the Trump Administration before these unhinged tariff moves? Who, if anyone, shorted stocks before the tariffs were first announced? Who bought back into the market before this pause was announced? Who is profiting from this?

“Why?” is the key question that the Trump Admin has no coherent answer for—nor can they articulate a long-term goal. Trump inherited a strong economy he delusionally insists is weak. There is zero need for these tariffs. He has the wrong diagnosis and the wrong prescription.

When the central incentive structure within an administration is to flatter the egomaniacal president instead of looking out for the best interests of America, this is what you get—Destructive policy and gaslighting. Lincoln had a team of rivals. Trump has a team of sycophants.

Elon Musk is beefing with Trump’s Trade Advisor Peter Navarro amid Musk’s opposition to Trump’s tariffs. By all means proceed

Trump’s first term wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been in spite of him, not because of him. This time, he’s surrounded by sycophants and the guardrails are gone—just like we warned. Now, we’re all feeling the unchecked volatility of Trump’s undisciplined mind.

Great piece by @ahmedbaba.bsky.social this evening. “Trump supporters seem to think they can get Trump à la carte. But you can’t. You get all of him.” Credit ~ Ahmed Baba Give it a read! open.substack.com/pub/ahmedbab...

Trump isn’t just tanking markets—he’s shattering decades of trust. The idea that the US will have foreign policy or trade continuity across admins is dead. It could take decades of consistency to rebuild the trust Trump has shattered in less than 3 months.

Caught this as it was happening. CNBC has since confirmed it was an erroneous wire headline based on the Hassett interview that caused the market surge. I clocked it because I watched Hassett’s interview on Fox this morning. Hassett never said Trump was considering a pause.

Hundreds of thousands demonstrating nationwide in protests against Trump and Musk’s power grabs. Democrats winning and over-performing in elections. Trump’s approval tanking while his tariffs tank the markets. Trump’s overreach backfired, and Americans are standing up.

Trump meant to send this to his “Destroy The Economy PC Small Group” Signal chat but he’s posting on main

100%. The GOP-controlled House and Senate, in a heartbeat, could pass a bill to end this with unanimous Dem support. But they refuse. Pressure and blame needs to be applied on them. This is just as much their fault. They’re a coequal branch refusing to check the executive. Via @joshtpm.bsky.social

The Trump Admin's Orwellian tariff gaslighting makes the plot of "Don't Look Up" look like a documentary. This Admin would 100% claim that an asteroid headed toward Earth is actually good for the economy, and delusional people would cheer it on. We're living in the upside-down.

No matter what happens next, the bigger picture damage is done. Breaching agreements with irrational tariffs. Antagonizing NATO allies. The US is no longer seen as a good faith actor. It will take decades of consistency to rebuild the trust Trump broke in less than 3 months.

Seeing far too many posts with “Thank you dear leader Trump for tanking my 401k” energy. MAGA is not beating the cult allegations today

Who could’ve possibly guessed that electing a delusional man that consumes his own disinformation would be bad? It wasn’t like we all spent years warning that he’s unfit for office or loudly warned his polices would tank the economy. This was simply unforeseeable. Flabbergasting.

Someone explain to me how Trump getting American manufacturing workers laid off will bring more manufacturing to America?

Trump officials are hitting every cable news show they can and straight up celebrating the economic pain they're causing Americans, while literally in a split screen with stock tickers indicating their tanking retirement savings.

Trump has no more campaigns to run and is behaving that way. Congressional Republicans, on the other hand, will have to face voters. As Trump's approval ratings dip and tariffs ravage the economy, we could see the GOP's self-interest diverge from his, and new tensions arise.

Trump could’ve come into office and coasted on Biden’s improving economy. Instead, he’s making the worst possible choices at every turn—and proving his critics right. He simply can’t help himself. Self-sabotage is in his nature.

I have a friend who runs a small business and will have to double the price of one of her flagship products in order to afford these tariffs. Big businesses might be able to withstand these headwinds or cozy up to Trump for exemptions, but this will devastate small businesses.

Trump inherited an economy that was the envy of the world. Now he’s doing everything in his power to cripple that economy and take the world economy down with it. There is no rational explanation for these tariffs. They are unnecessary, self-sabotaging, and frankly insane.

Trump promised blanket tariffs during his campaign. Many of us warned this was coming. Trump's supporters spent months claiming he wouldn't do exactly what he said he would do. Too many business leaders lied to themselves. The market has been in denial. Well, now we're here.

If your goal was to weaken the American economy as fast as possible, your approach would look a lot like what Trump is doing right now

We’re now seeing the most definitive electoral proof yet that Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s authoritarian recklessness is resulting in political weakness for the broader Republican Party. The message is clear: America is ready to fight back.

We’ve all been saying his overreach would backfire. Now, the downfall begins.

Cory Booker's Senate floor speech just surpassed 24 hours and 18 minutes straight, breaking Strom Thurmond's record when he filibustered in opposition to the Civil Rights Act of 1957. Booker's TikTok stream alone surpassed 300M likes. History has been made, and a message sent.

Cory Booker’s 20+ hour Senate floor speech live stream just crossed 200 million total likes on TikTok, with around 70k concurrently watching. This doesn’t include the hundreds of clips being shared also garnering millions of views or the other platforms he’s streaming on.
