BEFORE and AFTER. You are not going to believe me this time…but I swear…I absolutely swear this is the same fucking street.

In a world in desperate need of more kindness, adding alt text to your images is a simple act of kindness that has a profound impact on people who rely on alt text.

Some good news. Transport for London today: TfL has increased its area of wildflower verges by 130,000m2, putting it on track to reach a total of 520,000m2 by 2026 And as part of London Climate Action Week, 12,000 packets of wildflower seeds have been given away to encourage people to get planting.

I needed to read this today. Thought someone else might need it too.

The mayor of Huntington Park had formally directed the police department to enforce laws against ICE concerning unmarked vehicles, visible license plates and required agency identification.

it’s even more demoralizing when the history you’re repeating is history you were around for the first time

Accusing people advocating for more public and active transport options of not considering disabled people while ignoring the way that the current paucity of public and active transport options limit disabled people's mobility isn't disability justice advocacy, it's enforced car dependency advocacy.

Literally begging you to post about Just Some Stuff. We will see the news I absolutely promise. Twenty people will repost the same exact thing about the news. Only you can post about a turtle you saw

We’re wasting the remaining carbon budget on war and AI.

I think this must be one of the most beautiful new walking & cycling routes in London. Delivered by @EnfieldCouncil, funded by @tfl & @NationalHways, this stunning new route follows the 'New River' from Enfield Town over the M25 to Broxbourne.

There may come a day when the BBC puts on air one of the other 29,999 headteachers currently estimated to be working in UK schools, but that day is not today

I genuinely think the role of Meta specifically in driving loneliness is underrated. Facebook replaced existing ways of keeping up with friends with what was briefly a great product, then destroyed that product.

I am surrounded by people who are outsourcing their own thinking to ChatGPT and they are quickly and obviously becoming dependent on it for even the most banal tasks. Once again, the "figuring it out" is the important part. Yes, you can use a crane to lift weights but you will not get stronger

I find it extremely depressing that this account gets so much traction but I understand the appeal. People want to believe there’s a secret resistance movement of park rangers out there. But they’re just cosplaying. And selling merch.

NYT won Pulitzers for MeToo/Weinstein reporting, documenting how women are harassed/hounded into silence by powerful men... & then endorses Cuomo, a man credibly accused of serial sexual harassment, who sought gynecological records of a victim during lawsuits he fought w/ millions in taxpayer $

Big news for me! I've just been announced as the Active Travel and Cycling Champion for Oxfordshire County Council. As this is an Oxfordshire-wide role, I'm very keen to know more about rural routes especially. Shout out to the Lib Dems for appointing an opposition councillor - they're serious. 💚

Before you do a damn thing anyone on here is suggesting you do, as someone who teaches an entire class in media disinformation, do one thing: look to see of they are click-grifters, or coming from a place of genuine expertise rooted in years of experience. Ask yourself who benefits: you, or them?

No better way to build morale in the military than forcing troops to march down largely empty streets in a thunderstorm to celebrate a draft dodger’s birthday

I've seen bigger crowds at Camden Market

Incredible turnout for the #NoKings protest in Los Angeles!

We have entered the "The police is saying that if the police is at your door you are not safe call the police immediately" stage of making America great again

If you're all about being a good ally & you were kinda half-thinking of going to Dublin Pride that day, maybe you could start thinking about going to Ballymena instead? First ever Pride parade in Mid & East Antrim. Same day as Dublin, 28th.

My latest @newscientist.com cartoon

We know what we have to do to save our city from Andrew Cuomo. We're cross endorsing 🤝 @bradlander.bsky.social

This is one of the best - and most terrifying - images from my bird feeder. 😬

When climate deniers argue that atmospheric CO₂ was higher in the past, it's idiotic. Humans evolved to live in the current climate, and we built our society and infrastructure accordingly. The atmosphere didn't have oxygen billions of years ago, and we certainly don't want to return to that.

Absolutely chilling

“If a time traveller arrived from Victorian times into a school they would recognise it immediately. But the world has changed and what we know about the brain has changed. We have the neuroscience to know children learn through play.” www.theguardian.com/education/20...

We can allow history to repeat itself, and powerful interests to shape our streets in one way. Or we can remember that cities are places where walking, cycling and public transport should be prioritised. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

There's a good case for the UK government temporarily switching off Facebook and Twitter if they continue to be used to organise mob violence in Northern Ireland. If somebody was standing on a street corner inciting violence, they would be arrested.

Everyone should be able to use our rail systems, but 97% of disabled people say barriers stop us travelling. Today we're discussing accessibility gaps in the UK rail system at Rail Technology Magazine's event, to make our trains and stations more accessible to us all. #AccessibleTransport

Local authorities have to fight tooth-and-nail to get the DfT to adopt a basic international standard. The same DfT has no qualms about the ever-increasing size of cars. This isn't a sensible approach to road safety.

Can we have these everywhere please. A simple cheap and very effective measure to help pedestrians.

While the British media cheerlead for the far-right Reform party, there's close to zero coverage of the significant gains the Green party are making in council elections.

Good morning friends. This kid is spot on 👏🏼💙

in my city which is apparently in a state of extended military occupation due to extreme and widespread unrest a really kind sanitation worker saw me sitting out front with my kids and gave them free toy trash cans and we talked about recycling
