It's absolutely ridiculous that the gender pay gap is still raging on. New data shows that only 1 in 5 employers have closed the gender pay gap, with 72% of employers having a pay gap that favours men. 🧵

The work of artists has been undervalued in our society for far too long. That's why earlier this week my federal colleagues released a plan which will ensure arts workers are respected, well-paid and supported in their essential work they do for our community.

It was great to join HACSU and so many of our state's life-saving mental health workers at the first stage of their protected industrial action at the Northern Hospital. They’re advocating for better pay and working conditions for ALL workers in the mental health sector.

The new Labor policy on expanding bulk billing is a win for everyday households and another show of Greens pressure getting results. Now all we need is for Labor to put it through Parliament to Dutton-proof it before the next election instead of dangling it over voter’s heads.

The Labor Government have announced that 3,000 public sector jobs could be on the chopping block. We should be properly resourcing and expanding these services, not cutting them. How do we pay for it? Tax the banks. greens.org.au/vic/news/lab...

One of the questions the Greens get asked the most is, how will we pay for our plans to address the cost of living crisis? Well this week, we’re introducing a bill that will do just that. A bank levy at 0.05% that will raise more than $1 billion a year. greens.org.au/vic/news/med...

$5.13 billion. In half a year. Commonwealth bank just released its profits for the second half of last year. Meanwhile people can’t pay their mortgages or put food on the table. This is fucked. Tax the banks.

Gender affirming care saves the lives of trans and gender diverse young people. What is happening in Queensland is devastating. These politicians are the last people I’d be taking health advice from. We can’t allow this hate to spread across the country.

Reminder PSA: If your institution is attacking and degrading queer people, and you still expect to show up to pride, please kindly fuck off ♥️ 🌈

A powerful opinion piece from Anjali Sharma: www.theguardian.com/commentisfre... It’s right to expect & demand our political institutions protect us. With fires raging around the world, in our summer and California’s winter, we urgently need to secure the right to a safe climate.

Yesterday, Victorian trans and gender diverse advocacy body, Transgender Victoria, announced they would withdraw from the Midsumma Pride March, citing concerns with Victoria Police's participation at the event. It’s important we take a moment to acknowledge the significance of this.

In a rush to look like they’re doing something, Labor has announced some very worrying anti-protest laws that seem designed to stop many peaceful demonstrations, and could silence important voices like survivors of child sexual abuse & social, environment & peace activists.

Contraception can cost hundreds annually, forcing many women to cut corners or go without. The Greens’ plan will make them free.

BREAKING: New Zealand will ban greyhound racing! With our cousins across the ditch making this sensible move, Victoria is one of the last places in the world that allows this inherently cruel industry. It’s time we followed their lead and banned greyhound racing.

I don't know if Peter Dutton truly cares about what flags he stands in front of. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. What I DO know is that this is how Dutton will campaign right up to the election: whip up hatred and try to pit us against each other. We can't let him get away with it.

Your regular reminder that nuclear energy is a non-starter. Regional Australians don't want a reactor in their backyard, and there's no business case for nuclear in this country. What people want is renewable energy. Enough distractions, let's just get on with building it!

A building with 15 one bedroom apartments in Parkville used to be full of renters, paying $280 a week, only 2 years ago. The building was sold in 2022 and is now managed by MadeComfy. The apartments are now listed for $895 a week. The same units increasing in price by $600 a week over 2 years.

Woolworths is one of the richest and most powerful companies in Australia, with over 200,000 employees. All of these employees deserve healthy wages and to be treated with dignity and humanity at work. They should not be forced to strike to have their needs met.

I’m in awe of our newest Greens MP @anasina-greens.bsky.social who just gave her maiden speech to Victorian Parliament. Her speech was a historical moment as Victoria welcomed its first Pasefika-Samoan MP, and an experienced fighter for marginalised communities and diversity in essential services.

66 women have been killed by violence this year. It’s a national crisis. But this violence is not inevitable. Men must do better. Governments must do better. Prevention is possible. But it requires all of us.

This #16DaysOfActivism, we remember the 85 women who have died so far this year in Australia because of men's violence. A woman is killed by men's violence every four days. Enough is enough. There is #NoExcuse.

The Rental Affordability Index was published last week. It offered conclusive data about the reality of the rental crisis affecting the Australian major cities. The report showed that rental affordability in metro Melbourne has dropped by 6% over this year. sgsep.com.au/projects/ren...

The far-right is ramping up attacks against the transgender community in the United States again. With the federal Liberal leader borrowing talking points from Donald Trump, it’s important that the transgender and gender diverse community knows that they have our support.
