Rest in peace, Jackson “Butch” Guice. I first saw his work in the pages of Msrvrl’s Micronauts comic back in the late 70s and early 80s.

Which is the best Indiana Jones movie and why is it The Temple of Doom? #dailynerdpic #IndianaJones

Today is #NationslSuperheroDay! And what makes a hero super more than a great villain? So to celebrate National Superhero Day, post four great villains that you love to hate!

The greatest Battle Royale of all time (and all galaxies)! #dailynerdpic #StarWars #wwe

My favorite X-Men team lineup, by my favorite X-Men artist, Dave Cockrum. #dailynerdpic

When I first started reading fantasy fiction as a kid, Terry Brook’s Shannara trilogy took the fantasy market by storm. At the same time, the new D&D RPG was also surging in pop culture. Not coincidentally, the Shannara covers looked like every D&D game I played in back then. #dailynerdpic

Name a SCI-FI show that is not Star Trek 📺🖤

I have taken a deep dive into the #LitRPG genre for… reasons. Like all things literary, it’s a good 80% crap, but stuff that is good is really good. Start at the top with the Dungeon Crawler Carl books, and then use this handy guide (by @erinampersand.bsky.social) to expand your LitRPG journey.

The five remaining Istari of the Third Age of Middle Earth, better known as the Order of the Wizards. Art by Gilfadriel. #dailynerdpic #tolkien #LotR

I was trying to find a nerdy pic that involved a messianic figure sacrificing himself so that his people might live in peace, but that also involved bunnies, and this is the best I could come up with. Happy Easter! #dailynerdpic #watershipdown #bunnies

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited, Imagination covers the world. " Albert Einstein It was an Ace paperback edition of Howard’s Conan that introduced me to big boy fantasy and adventure fiction at a very young age. #dailynerdpic

DC’s Big Barda is my favorite woman superhero. Not only is she half of one of the greatest power couples in all of comics, but she’s also a complete badass! And she was created and designed by #JackKirby to boot. Art by Javier Rodriguez. #dailynerdpic

That skyline, tho… One of the most badass opening scenes in cinematic sci-fi history. #dailynerdpic #akira

I just finished reading This Inevitable Ruin, book 7 in the Dungeon Crawler Carl #LitRPG series by Matt Dinniman. My spoiler-free review: this series is starting to buckle under its own weight. It was still a fun read, tho, and the ending was BANG! on. Will definitely read the next book. #booksky

JRR Tolkien is famous as a writer, but few know that he was also an artist. His paintings were even used as the cover art for his books at one point. In fact, it was this edition of The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings that was my introduction to the good professor’s works. #dailynerdpic #tolkien

Wise words. This is the quote that opens the sci-fi action/adventure novel in currently working on.

Drop some HEADWEAR! Nobody could hat like Jack Kirby’s Odin hatted:

We grabbed some pizza and had a family movie night tonight. I introduced my wife and boy to Jim Henson’s Labyrinth. That movie still holds up today, and both Lee and Connie really enjoyed it. 😁 #dailynerdpic

When the Champions Superhero RPG was published in 1981, the RPG industry was still quite new. Production values were primitive compared to today’s standards, and Champions was no exception. But Mark Williams’ artwork, as unrefined as it was, had its own irresistible energy. #dailynerdpic

Justin Gerard is one of the best fantasy artists of the past 25 years. This piece, “The Temple of the Serpent”, is a perfect example of his style. Gerard combines a sense of whimsy with a sense of terror, creating a true sense of the fantastic. #dailynerdpic

I recently finished reading Player Manager 5, a sports fantasy progression series by Ted Steel. My spoiler-free review: this series made me a fan of English football! ⚽️ Part “Welcome to Wrexham”, part “Ted Lasso”, and part “Shaolin Soccer”, this series is a lot of fun! #LitRPG #booksky

Newton’s Cannon, the first book of Greg Keyes’ amazing Age of Unreason series, was published 27 years ago. Mr. Keyes’ early work had a huge influence on my writing style, particularly in how I structure my narratives. The series is also a very fun read! #dailynerdpic #booksky

Today is the anniversary of the release of John Boorman’s masterpiece, Excalibur (1981). It is one of my top five favorite films, and I’ve seen it dozens of times. Question for my fellow fantasy genre fans: would you consider Excalibur to be a sword & sorcery story? #dailynerdpic #swordandsorcery

One of my favorite fantasy paintings, from a JRR Tolkien calendar I had as a kid: The Battle of Helm’s Deep, by Darrel K. Sweet. The depiction in the LotrR movies was epic, to be sure, but it could never match the awesomeness of this painting. #dailynerdpic #LotR #Tolkien

The original Star Trek TV series is my favorite iteration of Trek, and my favorite episode of that series is “Mirror, Mirror”, where Kirk and crew enter the Evil Twin universe. So many cool moments! #dailynerdpic #startrek

Taken one year ago today right after the peak of the eclipse, just as the sun was breaking out on the other side. A much needed reminder that the darkness always passes. Put love above everything else, and the rest will take care of itself.

The Amazing Spider-Girl (and the whole M2 Universe, for that matter) remains the best thing to come out of Marvel in the past three decades. Yet it also remains criminally underrated. May “Mayday” Parker is perfect for the MCU. Art by the Amazing Ron Frenz. #dailynerdpic

Vampiro: Rockabilly Apocalypse, by @headlockedcomic.bsky.social, is one of the best comics on the stands today. Seriously, if you’re looking for something new, fun, and different, check this title out.

Concept art for Ralph Bakshi’s Lord of the Rings movie, by the amazing Mike Ploog. This art style just sings to my soul! It’s like he draws in cursive. #dailynerdpic

Congratulations to my good friend @vanallenplexico.bsky.social for receiving the Pulp Factory’s Pulp Grand Master Award! It’s a huge honor, and it is very well deserved.

When life comes at me hard, punches me in the gut, and then kicks me when I’m down, this little guy is why I continue to get back up. He’s my strength.

There was a time in the 70s when comicbooks got caught up in the martial arts craze, and it was awesome! Marvel Comics embraced that fad enthusiastically. This cover features Marvel’s top 3 martial artists: Iron Fist, Shang-Chi, and (in the corner box) White Tiger. #dailynerdpic
