Keir Starmer is being advised to urgently pause the Government's plans to cut disability & health benefits by Parliament's work & pensions committee www.itv.com/news/2025-05...

Republicans are trying to kick 13.7 million more people off of their health insurance – all to give tax cuts to some of the wealthiest people and corporations in the country.

Charities step up pressure on Keir Starmer to scrap two-child benefit cap

35% increase in bills! 🤑 This government just wants us to swallow it while their privatised water pals take them to the FOOTBALL?! ⚽️ Share if you agree with Lois's message to Steve Reed MP: "You need to think of people's pockets instead of private water profits"

#India: Kashmiri journalist Hilal Mir, arrested on 7 May for a Facebook post, has been released. RSF welcomes this news and calls on the authorities to end the unacceptable repression of journalists in Kashmir. rsf.org/en/india-rsf...

The road to repression has been built for years: ➡️ 2018-2021 Climate protests, Black Lives Matter, Sarah Everard vigil: Hundreds of thousands across the UK took to the streets for human rights. As demands justice grow, criminalisation of protest tactics and stigmatisation of protesters ramp up. 🧵

So basically - if you want to come here to work in a care home looking after sick or elderly people, tough. But the super-rich can come and go as they please. Once again @Keir_Starmer's priorities on full display! www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...

Day 11 of Lois asking Steve Reed to join her at the football. ⚽ The government's flimsy ban on bonuses doesn't work. Private water bosses are still laughing all the way to the bank. 🤑 Steve, whose side are you on? Get behind the 82% of us who want water in public hands.

“[Chalk streams] are globally significant ecosystems and are largely restricted to our shores. So we have a huge responsibility to protect them.” Really disappointing for this amendment I moved in the Planning & Infrastructure Bill Committee to be vetoed. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

This is a HUGE scandal. Elon Musk, JD Vance, and Trump are lying about Social Security fraud. Internal documents show DOGE found "no significant fraud"—but did slow retirement claim processing by 25%. Nothing efficient about making it harder for people to get their benefits.

No one who cares about wildlife and ecosystems is now likely to vote Labour in 2029. Or about Gaza. Or poverty. Or inequality. Or international aid. Or corporate power. Or democratic reform. Or racism. Or trans rights. So that's goodbye to just about its entire vote. What are they playing at?

The government admitted that “Israel is not committed to complying with International Humanitarian Law.” But it’s carved out a loophole to continue sending F-35 parts. We’re proud to support our friends at GLAN in their High Court challenge: www.glanlaw.org/single-post/...

The government has published no evidence to suggest that cutting disability benefits will get people back to work. The evidence it has published found that these cuts would plunge hundreds of thousands of people into poverty. I’m joining @trusselluk.bsky.social in calling on the gov’t to rethink

The vision thing: Labour in government still lacks a positive overarching vision for the future of Britain. Evidence from overseas suggests that voters like visions, and that fairness is a good starting point...

Pandering to Reform over care workers is grubby and cheap. Care homes are reliant on overseas staff. Without them, many will need to close their doors, leaving families and communities to suffer the consequences. Read, like, share, subscribe below. 👇 substack.com/@nicolakelly...

The problem with social care is private equity fat cats ripping old people off for £8000 a month. Not minimum wage immigrant workers. Tell me I'm wrong.

Today's performative clampdown on migrants will gut our care homes of desperately needed staff. We are *already* short of over 150k carers. Banning foreign care workers will only exacerbate this - increasing suffering of society's most vulnerable members & pressures on the NHS. It's madness.

The Earl of Shrewsbury is facing questioning over wrongfully claiming taxpayer-funded expenses to attend a commercial meeting, just months after a lobbying suspension. Yet another example that the House of Lords is in dire need of reform. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Privatisation is the fundamental reason why water is in crisis. The only other country with fully privatised water is Chile. We’re a global outlier, clinging to a failed Ponzi scheme while our rivers choke and bills rise. It’s time to bring water back into public hands.

Scandalous. As the UK faces its driest spring in 69 years, water companies are « simply praying for rain ». Meanwhile, they’ve handed £85bn to shareholders since privatisation. We are being scammed. It's time to bring water back in public hands. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Why does a foreign chemical company with almost $7 billion in earnings need so much funding from our local and federal government at the expense of our residents? www.commondreams.org/opinion/miss...

Water is an essential resource and a public necessity. Decisions about water management and pricing are too important to leave to an unaccountable and seemingly increasingly partisan regulator. The government must put public, not-for-profit ownership on the table.

Now Government’s own impact assessment shows no real evidence to support their argument that nature is a blocker, I look forward to ministers reversing their proposals that will trash nature protections …

Tenants at Queen's Court are living in appalling conditions and frankly I've been shocked by the property management company's failure to do its basic duties. I won't let this drop - will keep fighting for residents. www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol...

The forecast is for...water shortages this summer. 🤔Who could have seen that coming?! Decades of underinvestment, resulting in ageing infrastructure unfit for changes in our climate. No new reservoirs built this century. 🤑That's what happens when you put profit before people.
