One week after back surgery (fusion), only mild pain and getting up and down is easier. Luckily, my knees have been behaving. Major issues are restrictions of back brace and not being allowed to bend over. Minor is the annoying cord of the bone growth stimulator. I get to take a shower tomorrow.

City contractors are trimming branches by the utility line in my back yard. It's lunch time so they just pull out chairs and eat in my driveway. It's fine, but I am amused.

Back surgery yesterday. Yesterday afternoon and early evening was mostly sleeping. Today better so far, slight fuzzy brain from drugs. Mostly just just lower back aching pain.

Obviously, for the first time since I moved the electric kettle to a different part of the kitchen, I tried to use the kettle and microwave at the same time. Oops. Lesson learned. Don't do that.

I have back surgery next week. I've done the important things. Trained Sabine to eat on the table. Training took two meal times. Bought long handle litter box scoop and a grabber so I can pick up her water bowl. And ordered a couple boxes of food.

Chicken tends to be my go to protein in the vat of whatever I'm making for the week. Since chicken prices will be going up even more since they aren't dealing with the bird flu I'm researching new bean/lentil recipes. Already downloaded a few to try.

I have an injection scheduled for my back on Tues. Checked health insurance website & the authorization is still under review. The doctor office didn't submit it until 2 days ago, appointment was made 2.5 weeks ago. It says reviews take 5-10 days. They better know that it will be approved in time.

Just returned an ebook and noticed I read 36 books of fiction last year. Not too bad. The last couple years there were a couple series that I had to take a hiatus from reading, maybe I'll find the next book in those in the near future and see if I'm interested in continuing.

Took a walk this afternoon. I was crossing a street and saw a cat walking along the sidewalk on the other side. When I got over there I got meowed at, so I stopped. They walked over to me and plopped down demanding to be petted. It was a hardship but I did. I hope the cat made it home okay.

I like swimming this time of the year when it's just me and the other Saturday morning regular. My mind wandered a couple times so I may have swam a couple extra laps. Next couple weeks I'll have to do my Tues eve swim on Monday evening. Annoying mid week holidays.
