Just learned that Dr. Seuss drew this in 1941 www.artsy.net/article/arts...

the most surprising and disappointing aspect of becoming a global health philanthropist is the existence of an opposition team

It is so great to see someone actually comment on this with more than the shallow and idiotic “they booed our anthem”. Jesse Marsch takes the discourse where it belongs giving it depth and intelligence.

If the United States saw what the United States is doing in the United States, the United States would invade the United States to liberate the United States from the tyranny of the United States. 🇺🇸💙🏴‍☠️

Ironic that during the Summit Series, the USSR was the evil empire. A bit more than 50 years later, it's the 4 Nations and the U.S. is the evil empire. What Trump hath wrought.

What these nihilistic vandals are doing to dismantle science & medicine—generations of expertise & public service & life improving benefits—is cultural revolution level national self harm. No foreign foe could inflict such brutal damage & senseless suffering on US so fast & effectively & unresisted.

At Cabaret yesterday, Cliff said his line “…if you’re not against all this then you’re for it. Or you might as well be”. The audience interrupted the scene to applaud that line so strongly it stopped the show. Doing a show about the onset of fascism right now is. . . chilling.

Today, for the first time, @wired.com got my money. The work the Wired journos are doing is incredibly solid and technically adept while being clear. Thank you to @telliotter.bsky.social @lhn.bsky.social @agreenberg.bsky.social & more. www.wired.com/story/treasu...

God bless @propublica.org projects.propublica.org/elon-musk-do...

Appreciate this cogent, sane, and pointed analysis from someone who HAS noticed what's happening

Hate Hitler comparisons. Hate Hitler. But this is funny to me.

One of the people is hoping for a return of the roaring 20's...

*Such* an important point. It is only when tech-bro/finance savant talks about something *you know directly* that you realize: "If I hadn't heard he was a 'genius' I'd think he sounds like an absolute idiot" Musk has made mistake of delving into gov/media world lots of people actually know about.

Something I'd like an expert in original Gilded Age to write: Overall, are the plutocrats of this era—Musk, Bezos, Zuckerberg, Thiel etc—greedier, ethically weaker, and more globally destructive than their earlier counterparts? Or not quite as bad? A toss-up? Look forward to reading the answer.

I God, will now create a new word: Shituation. This is when you’re stuck in a really shitty situation. This will be Oxford English Dictionary’s word of the year in one year’s time.

I figure many owners feel this way.
