Guess which #weather regime will dominate over the next few days. Rarely have I seen such a clear signal well into the medium range. Such persistent blocking leads to major anomalies, in both directions, and, under certain circumstances, regional weather extremes.

Tropospheric circulation is increasingly disrupted. A persistent northern European blocking, which is rarely simulated so consistently by the models, will bring increasingly cold winter weather to Central and Western Europe. Completely different in the Arctic, with massively positive deviations.

Extreme #Wärme heute im Sßdwesten Deutschlands! HÜchsttemperaturen bis knapp 19 °C, dazu 111 Dekadenrekorde und 17 Monatsrekorde (Stand 14 Uhr). Darunter auch regelrechte Rekord-Pulverisierungen, auch an Stationen mit langen Zeitreihen. In Bad Dßrkheim z.B. 17,9 °C (alter Rekord 16,8 °C, + 1,1 K!)

#ClimateChange played a role in #StormEowyn. The storm started as a Diabatic Rossby Wave (DRW), which was fuelled by latent energy from very moist air over much too warm sea surfaces.
