Great reporting here from @aaronwiener.bsky.social on the quarter-century fight to build multifamily housing on a Metro station parking lot in Takoma. You will not find a better example of systemic dysfunction: www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/202...

“Our customs broker normally gives us terms (on duties), but that’s for $20,000 or $30,000. Not $1 million,” said Steve Boyd, Tern's general manager for North America.

Harris had a plan like this... but we chose an emperor who's tanking our economy instead 🤦‍♂️😒

It’s still a goal of mine to help make this the most famous, well-known and UNDERSTOOD quote about cities in history. Please share it as much as you can.

The Trump administration, with Elon Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency, has gutted a small federal agency that provides funding to libraries and museums nationwide. This threatens student field trips, classes for seniors, and access to digital library services.

Prime example of Democrats not being able to run a government effectively. The city’s solution is to print bigger stickers and tell people to only buy from licensed trucks. It’s embarrassing that the city can’t get its act together at the National Mall. wtop.com/dc/2025/04/t...

“Parisians voted in a referendum on Sunday to pedestrianise a further 500 of the city's streets, giving fresh momentum to efforts by the French capital's leftist town hall to curb car usage and improve air quality. 65.96% of Parisians voted in favour of the measure.” www.reuters.com/world/europe...

🏘️ “I think the aspiration ought to be that we allow Minnesotans to pick which communities they live in, not let communities pick which Minnesotans get to live there.” Well said Senator Rasmusson! 💯 #mnleg #YesToHomes

As they say, with a friend like this who needs enemies?

“That man who hit us (with his car) just gets to carry on like he never did anything wrong.” www.popville.com/2025/03/that...

What kind of city do you want to create? A city where you can get from A to B as comfortably and efficiently as possible on four wheels? Or a city where children and teenagers can experience freedom and independence?

we believe we are special and we simply are not

She knows how to get things done. I’d love this kind of leadership in our cities.

The problem with nearly every North American city, suburb, and town is that leaders and planners believe cars must go everywhere people do.

Trump is literally doing this right now. talkingpointsmemo.com/live-blog/se...

This is a prime example of old guard Democrats just not getting it and not governing effectively. Electrifying buses & making rides free doesn’t mean crap when you have bus lines operating at 40 minute headways.

God forbid local govts actually charge drivers money to occupy scarce public street space. What's next, public libraries putting time limits on how long people can check out books?

@mayorwu.boston.gov you recently said Boston needs to slow down its bike lane building because of accessibility. Does this look inaccessible to you?

“Anti-housing advocates represent a super minority viewpoint that only sees the light of day because that very vocal minority is overrepresented in our Town Meetings that see at most 5% of voters participate.” 📍 Marblehead, MA marbleheadcurrent.org/2025/03/07/l...

This is what you’re affirmatively supporting, @schumer.senate.gov

"We must not take any action to influence the course of events now so that we can preserve a hypothetical ability to influence the course of events at some point in the future" is not bad politics because it is not politics at all.

I’ve never been deep into politics beyond voting, but that changed. I now use @5calls.org weekly to contact my reps and senator. You MUST do the same. It takes less than 10 minutes to reach them all. Social media won’t change things, but calls will help. Use the site. Make the calls. 👇

Insane framing from NPR but also Shut it down.

Gentle reminder that the quaint European pedestrian streets filling your Instagram feed were very recently just as fucked up and full of cars as most American ones. But they did something about it.

When your business model relies on protectionism...

Shorter Zeldin: We want you to die of cancer, your kids to have asthma, and you suffer with dementia so you won't know how it ended. apnews.com/article/trum...

You’re god damn right they don’t. Finally Dems have grown a bit of spine.
