There's a new episode of the Ode to RailsConf podcast up this morning, with Alan Ridlehoover ( @alan.codegardener.com ) as my latest guest. It's probably one of my most personal episodes given the impact that Alan had on me at RubyConf back in November. www.odetorailsconf.com/2363110/epis...

My next guest on the podcast is Alan Ridlehoover ( @alan.codegardener.com ). I met Alan at RubyConf this past November, and it was because of him that I had a truly amazing final night at that Conference. I hope you'll listen and hear all about it, Monday morning!

Teachers must be solar powered. They seem to draw energy from the lightbulbs radiating brightly over their pupil's heads.

There are few people as wise about software and teams as Sarah. So this is definitely worth keeping an eye on. sarahmei.substack.com/p/hello-again

Automated tests make the best comments. Not only do well written tests show you how to use the software, they can also explain why. Plus, because they are executable, I know the moment they start lying to me.

You don't want to miss it!

Did you know Sin City Ruby is happening April 10-11? Featuring: Dave Thomas (@pragdave.bsky.social), Irinia Nazarova (@inazarova.bsky.social), Chris Oliver (@excid3.com), Prarthana Shiva, Alan Ridlehoover @alan.codegardener.com, Drew Bragg (@drbragg.dev), Jason Charnes & more! www.sincityruby.com

Hey #ruby community! What are you waiting for? This year is the last Sin City Ruby! The presentations will NOT be recorded. So, ante up and join us live! You're sure to leave Vegas with something valuable: both lessons learned and meaningful connections made! www.sincityruby.com

Have you ever been asked to cut down a tree but built a general solution that can cut down all the trees at once? Stop that! Just cut down the damn tree! Even Einstein came up with specialized relativity before general relativity. #softwareengineering

Here are my thoughts on Generative AI as it pertains to the software development industry. (Sorry for the exclusivity of the text embedded in an image. I'll add the text in a 🧵.)

@fito.codegardener.com and I will be talking about how to identify and remove complexity in your software at Sin City Ruby on April 10-11 in, where else but, sunny Las Vegas. Want to hang out before then? Join us and all the Sin City speakers for Sinful Sunday! www.sincityruby.com/sinful-sunda...

We had a great time at #SFRuby meetup yesterday! Thank you to our speakers @jasonswett.bsky.social Bart Agapinan @camertron.bsky.social and Alex Rodionov, Productboard for hosting and to everyone for joining! I’ll upload the recording soon.

What a great conference! Can’t wait for Rails Conf!

An early holiday gift from Ruby Central. 🎁 We can't wait to see you at RailsConf 2025. ✨

It was my honor and pleasure to welcome everyone to Chicago for the conference. May the fail whale forever flail.

Me too! I'm totally a child of the 1980s!

Have you had enough Hexagonal Architecture yet? No? Well, have I got a podcast for you! In this episode, me and @fito.codegardener.com talk about our early experiences using the Ports & Adapters pattern with Rails. Let us know your thoughts!

When learning the Ports & Adapters pattern, I found it confusing. It never clicked that the adapter was a direct reference to the GoF Adapter Pattern. That was a real face-palm moment for me. And, it was the key to me understanding the pattern. #hexagonal-architecture #ports-and-adapters #rails
