Evergreen writing tip from John Swartzwelder (creator of a tons of classic The Simpsons episodes, plus some very funny novels). This is from a rare interview, by Mike Sacks of The New Yorker, 2001. www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...

Called immediate BS on seeing this, no way Pigeon Street only ran for 13 episodes but (backed up by IMDB) it did. Mind blown.

I'm no tactical expert but have we tried playing with a midfield at all this season? Might be helpful. #COYS

This is brilliant, a new piece of technology that actually brings great value to people. No reason this couldn't be adapted by football clubs as well to help their blind/low vision fans to better enjoy their match-going experience.

Don't show up against the best team in the country at their place and you get pumped 99 times out if 100. Shameful performance from some experienced heads in a Spurs shirt, no effort, no endeavour. Rolled over and curled up waiting for the inevitable kicking. Disappointing. #COYS

Defence resolute enough but midfield and forwards very poor. Ball not sticking with them at all. Would need to absolutely steal a goal at this rate. Need a lot more from Biss, Lolo and Sarr to even this up. Sloppy on the ball and getting outmuscled every time in the challenge. #COYS

"Mikel Arteta, it must be the ball" #NUFC fans chant. #NUFC #AFC #CarabaoCup

How loud will Levy have turned the music up at the final whistle? #COYS

I've a funny feeling the ever wonderful @davidsquires.bsky.social might get a little more mileage out of this old favourite this week. Ange on the brink and the stadium sounds like it's clear on who is to blame. #COYS

“If there is one thing to learn from this, it’s to always remind people of how much they mean to you and how much you love them." Football in Northern Ireland and Newcastle is mourning Michael Newberry. This is Michael's story, from those closest to him. www.nytimes.com/athletic/608...

Great thread, @dearmrlevy.com nails it. This was never going to be a quick process, the rot was too deep. Time for the club to do their part again.

Strong starting 11 for my absolute most hated fixture of the season. Richy off the bench for a shithousing injury time winner. #COYS

An outstanding piece of storytelling. More mounting horror in one anecdote than Stephen King's whole literary collection. Superb.

One of those games you be glad is over, get in the draw for the 4th round, and never ever speak of it ever again. Full credit to Tamworth, great effort for 120 mins. They can be very proud of the shift they put in. The magic of the Cup indeed. #COYS

Does she think Celtic have a Portakabin out the back of Celtic Park that they get changed in? English media really have got it in for Ange which just makes me support him more.

Great result. All ran their legs off all night. 4 weeks now to get a few players back for the 2nd leg. Kinsky was top class. Spurs are on their way to Wembley? #COYS

If any Spurs fan watched that performance, with the squad that was available in any shape or form, and still pops on here to bleat about it being "unacceptable" and blaming another defeat on Ange...I really don't think this is the sport for you. Brave, courageous, never gave up. We go again. #COYS

This cursed football club where it never rains but it pours. Get into this lot anyway, Come On You Spurs. #COYS

A 41-year-old Marco Van Basten, years since he last kicked a ball in anger, scoring a diving header in Demetrio Albertini’s 2006 testimonial. What a lovely, lovely moment.

they're calling him ruben interim

Is it a disaster to lose by a single goal at Forest in the form they're in? No, not at all. Was the #THFC performance slow, tedious, toothless, and devoid of creativity? Absolutely. How many years now since we've known how to play against an anti-football murderball side like this? Too many. #COYS
