One thing I've never been good with is timing public transport. Yesterday I was about 15m late for my 9am start because of rush-hour roadworks, so today I leave a little earlier and I'm ... 1h20m early?

I don't remember the last time a TV show gave me nearly as many "HOLY SHIT" moment as For All Mankind has managed in the first 3 seasons. Somehow always finds a way to create more drama through politics and science without being too predictable.

Been a while since I had the typical #UnrealEngine experience: spending hours trying to do something that seems like it should be easy, only to find it's immensely harder and more complicated, possibly impossible ... ... then finding the two buttons you press to make it work. Ah, feels like home.

So ... it seems that if you've made a custom #UnrealEngine Player Camera Manager, and you're using that to specify camera values in the BlueprintUpdateCamera function, then you can't apply CameraShake. Anyone got any idea how I get around this without resorting to making my own shake system?

friend from my hometown posted one of the most united states posts I've seen in my whole life (reshared with permission)

Oh yes, Homer’s famous “Tes Thdpssssps.” 👍🏻

I can chart my journey in #education through "walls" I hit. First was realising I needed to deconstruct my field to teach it "properly", and I had to learn about fundamental design theory. Second was realising teaching was more than just "explaining stuff" and I had to learn creative pedagogy.

Really needs to be stated over and over that Silicon Valley style investment is based on growth potential, and any industry that makes repetitive products does not, by nature, produce growth. In fact, very few things actually DO create growth, which is why the world economy sucks right now.

new tf2 update is awesome

I finally painted that wardrobe that I had sliding doors made for when I moved in

Needing some #UnrealEngine #Animation #Gamedev help here ... I've been having a hell of a time trying to get this ladder system working. I think the issue is that there's not actual root motion data in the animation, but I don't really get *why* because the animation moves off the root bone.

In the interests of filling the timeline with work and creativity rather than doom, here's my latest side-project and a cautionary tale ... My students convinced me to add ladders to my Platform Game Template, but I'm struggling with getting Mixamo animations to match up with Motion Warp.

There was no way this WASN'T coming. I still can't believe that Meta/Ray-Bans did NOTHING in their advertising to make their glasses not look invasive and creepy and yet people didn't totally rinse them for it

It may feel weird or somehow improper to talk about your art or your writing, but we need it. It can’t be wall-to-wall nightmare all the time. Art is both counterweight and context. It’s escape and enlightenment and a mirror of our own exasperation. We need it. We NEED it. Keep showing us.

Scavengers Reign is still probably the biggest wasted IP of the past couple years. Netflix dropping it doesn't surprise me, but nobody else picking it up does. Perfect balance of mainstream accessibility and arthouse weirdness, and a great premise.

English doesn't have enough words for things. Like, for example, when someone is nice to you in a way that implies but doesn't outright state they want to be friends, it's... friend flirting?

Trying really hard to enjoy the game Control. It has a vibe I love, but so far it's just a shooting gallery. But then I got frustrated with the first boss and looked for the difficulty controls, and got a passive-aggressive "we advise playing with assists disabled" message ... Fuck off, devs.

Watching the SNL 50 concert highlights and when that Backstreet Boy approaches Jerry Seinfeld in the audience, its kinda ironic because his wife is probably the one audience member that doesn't know who they are.

If you think there's a game discovery problem (there is) this is for you. Ludocene plays like a deck-builder dating app, but winning earns you tailored game suggestions. To get this into your hands we just need to fund our Kickstarter (launches Tues 18th). www.kickstarter.com/projects/lud...

Don't think I've ever said this outright before, but the Game UI Database is NOT driven by AI. All 60,000+ screenshots were tagged BY HAND by myself over the last four years. Every screen type, every filter - even the colours! When you're passionate about the quality of your work, you don't need AI.

If you're any kind of creative person, you should just watch the first 20 minutes or so of Saturday Night Live's first episode. Zero laughs. First sketch out the gate, total bomb. From this, a 50 year legacy spawned. It isn't about viral success and hitting it out the gate. It's about tenacity.

Every time someone complains that game dev students aren't pressured more to start their own indie companies ...

One of our supporters shared this with us—people are getting creative tonight!

Unison is the largest women’s organization in the UK. It has a million women members. The Unison women’s conference just voted for a motion that said; “trans women are women and trans men are men” with no-one speaking against it. Transphobia is a top-down, elite practice.
