Prosecco o'clock.

This is the best angle I can manage of this evening's ride. Gate designed by a lunatic.

Wine o'clock.

It's election day. Vote like your future depends on it. It does. #cdnpoli

Must read. TTC can be better, but it needs to set the bar higher.

Perspective. In 2024, there were as many Canadian tourists to the US as those from the 11 countries in 3rd through 13th place combined. And nearly as many from Mexico. 2025 will look very different. www.visualcapitalist.com/charted-inte...

Main reason to vote: your future and the future of the country depend on it. Main reason not to vote: there is no reason not to vote. #cdnpoli

Celsius vs Fahrenheit use around the world.

We just published a new study on COVID-19 in Ontario, and it turns out, the way we measured cases may have been way off. Why? Because testing wasn’t equal across age and sex groups. That skews what we think we know. In epi-speak this is called “ascertainment bias”. Here's what we found:

"Most Canadians will receive only a few hundred dollars a year [in tax cuts]—hardly life-changing—while billions are spent. The question voters need to ask isn’t just “what do I get?” but “what gets cut to pay for it?” @davidmaccdn.bsky.social #federalelection2025 theclarion.ca/viewpoint/20...

Get vaxxed, and be careful out there.

"Per capita GDP does not measure living standards."

Is the opposite of "woke", "asleep at the switch"? #cdnpoli

Wait, so I can vote for the return of plastic straws? So we can all suck again? #cdnpoli

Today is Palm Sunday. What does it mean this Sunday? Under the tentacles of authoritarianism? It means the same thing as when it started. Because for Jesus this day was a protest, not a parade. open.substack.com/pub/dianabut...

The year is 2350. Humanity has established a colony on Mars and supersonic trains criss-cross the planet. American commuter railroads' conductors still punch holes in little paper tickets to confirm tickets have been checked, while running 1960s train held together with paperclips.

“Do you know of any challenge in the history of humankind that was successfully overcome that began with pessimism and defeatism? There isn’t. So optimism is a choice.” — Christiana Figueres, who knows what it looks like to tackle seemingly impossible challenge – and succeed!

Advocates give TTC station a makeover to spur city to fund new wayfinding system TTCriders says existing system has 'hodgepodge of signage' that needs updating www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Within hours, TTC took down the signs installed by volunteers this morning. We'd hoped our helpful suggestions would stick around to help riders navigate. That's why we're asking Councillors to invest in the TTC's wayfinding strategy in the next budget: tttcriders.ca/wayfinding

"You shouldn't get lost while taking the TTC, but it can feel like a maze because of the confusing or outdated signs in subway stations," said TTCriders volunteer Joe Craib. #TTC station was just given an unsanctioned guerrilla update | via BlogTO www.blogto.com/city/2025/04...

"Down with the BRT, long live the bus." I've just published an unusually polemical, argumentative post on my Substack explaining why I think Bus Rapid Transit is a failed planning concept. open.substack.com/pub/marcochi...

Crude oil prices are down $14/b (20%) in the last week. Apart from acute embarrassment for Danielle Smith (who called Trump's tariffs last week a "big win for Alberta & Canada"), there's an important lesson to be learned here about how crude oil futures markets work. #cdnecon /2

This is brilliant. And true.

Impressive that they started posting Commons Journals online in 1835.
