Just clarifying, though this is not difficult to grasp: Anyone working on an industry project with a notorious transphobic bigot is OK with transphobic bigotry. The end.

Here's the script, folks. It's now or never. Capitol switchboard: (202) 224-3121 Local office numbers: www.congress.gov/members/find... RTs appreciated.

This was my classmate. He was a student in my ethics class, and we used to sit next to each other. Most dedicated person in the class to legitimate justice for all people. He legitimately cared. I am so horribly heartbroken

BREAKING: The United Mineworkers and United Steelworkers unions are suing the Trump admin over its decision to delay enforcement of a lifesaving new silica rule meant to curb the black lung epidemic in Appalachia. My exclusive for @inthesetimesmag.bsky.social: inthesetimes.com/article/trum...

I have a refrain (that, oddly, comes from Võ Nguyên Giáp) that pops into my head every time I read one of these stories: “Human beings! Human beings!” What we need are investments in human beings carried out by human beings.

there’s no reason not to do this. it’d probably end up with another kind of constitutional crisis, which is exactly why it should happen.

Part of eugenics is wanting disabled people to not be visible to society.

This action, like so many others, is illegal perversion of the White House. This money is appropriated by Congress, solely given the power of the purse under our Constitution. Impounding that money—OUR money—is explicitly illegal since 1974. The President cannot do it.

MIT following Harvard's lead here

I wrote about the practical strategic necessity of doing "impossible" things, the moral and strategic emptiness of making the middle your destination, and the way persuasion requires vision, and vision requires standing for something. www.the-reframe.com/the-unmovabl...

Paying taxes with tears in my eyes knowing what they're paying for - disappearing innocent people to a concentration camp in El Salvador. What have we become?

The North American Building Trade Unions are calling for the return of their member, Kilmer Abrego Garcia, who is the victim of human trafficking by our government.

We must all stand as a united front against the kidnapping and illegal detention of Kilmar Abrego Garcia in El Salvador. Senator, I am willing to join you and help Organize other members of the House to do the same. @vanhollen.senate.gov

White lady racism is always beneficial

Mark Carney's office opened 90% of emails our supporters sent about basic income, from liberals and non-liberals alike. Working families, business owners, recent grads, employed yet homeless. Here are stories from working people who support basic income.🧵

I would like to see Canadian political parties step back from the tough on crime malarkey and tell us the policies they will introduce to prevent crime. Will they support UBI, national child care, mental health services, low cost housing, stay in school initiatives?

Martin O'Malley just mentioned state attorneys general filing state kidnapping charges. Just imagine the collective cheer in this country if state troopers pulled over, arrested and cuffed a van full of masked ICE fascists.

1/4. On the White House’s theory, if they abduct you, get you on a helicopter, get to international waters, shoot you in the head, and drop your corpse into the ocean, that is legal, because it is the conduct of foreign affairs.

I will say this - EVERYONE with power seems to be desperately hoping that unpopularity does the work that consequences need to do

Jesse did not ‘question an aspect of the progressive message.’ He dedicated his *entire career* to popularizing the idea that progressives are unhinged, anti-science freaks who are foisting permanent surgeries on kids without assessment.

There will be lots of people who have previously been complicit who will find some courage, realize a line has been crossed, want to act. It’s gonna piss me off to welcome them but we’re gonna have to do it.

Here is the situation if I’m understanding it correctly: 1. They are deporting lawful immigrants erroneously to prisons overseas 2. They are claiming no recourse to return these individuals 3. They say they are open to deporting citizens in the same way

important context about the concentration camps in el salvador:

I know we beat this drum daily, but today especially it’s obvious these are not the actions of a party that anticipates ever losing power.

When I reported a long 2021 piece about Cuomo, a thing that many people who worked for him for years told me about (besides the corruption, incompetence & cruel domination tactics) was that he & those in his senior circles JUST DIDN'T CARE about policy, or about actually getting anything done.

Really feeling for all lawyer comrades right now especially those in immigration law. Thanks for your zealous advocacy.

There we go. Support this man.

Mask mandates belong in healthcare year round. Patients who get infected with COVID and die or become disabled won’t be comforted by the fact it happened outside “respiratory season”. Staff need a “break” from PPE? I want a break from chronic illness. I don’t want to get worse seeking healthcare

It is essential for the rule of law that everyone involved in this end up in prison. Nothing else is a sufficient deterrent against the intentional, repeated abuse of government power to systematically deny fundamental rights.

🚨 We *CANNOT* allow the Trump Coup to get away w/this. TRUMP CAN 100% EFFECTUATE THE RETURN OF GARCIA WHO’S BEING HELD CAPTIVE IN A FOREIGN TORTURE PRISON IN DIRECT VIOLATION OF HIS CONT’L RIGHTS - THAT WE’RE PAYING MILLIONS FOR. thehill.com/opinion/judi... It’s on WE THE PEOPLE to stop him. 🔊

hooboy getting flashbacks to "viewpoint diversity" demands at Google by Damore et al circa 2017 "what kind of viewpoint diversity?" we asked, and they were like, uh, well, you know, not the lower taxes kind, the kind relating to believing in relative IQs of different races kind.

about 90% of culture war grievances is literally just people with nothing happening in their lives getting mad that other people are not as unhappy as they are

republicans are disappearing people under the guise of fighting antisemitism and can’t even pretend to give a fuck when a jewish governor’s house gets firebombed on passover

“I told her to keep going out, to be with her community. I wanted her to live her life,” E. recalled, her voice breaking. “And then she got abducted in broad daylight.”

You don’t have to be particularly sharp to decipher the code here. But if you need someone to say it, this is a major technology company and a sizable defense and intelligence contractor publicly declaring, with only the thinnest patina of deniability, that its cause is white nationalism.

THEY WON'T PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE BUT THEY'LL BREAK TAXPAYER PRIVACY LAWS TO DEPORT THOSE WHO DO FUCKERS thirty six times thirty six times the Torah commands us to care for, protect, love, deal justly with, treat "as a citizen" the non-citizen/stranger in our midst. can't even theocracy right

I’ve spent weeks with about a hundred of elder Black peole who still very much think of themselves as comrades. The way they talk about Trump & electoral politics & America really just drives home for me that Black southern pragmatism + radical imaginations + lowfi relationships are what matter.

This is really the key! We should let people identify how they choose. It costs us nothing and there's little reason to get worked up over it!

This is slavery. I want people to understand that. Because it’s important you understand that BECAUSE IT IS SLAVERY YOUR WHITE FAVORITES DO NOT WORK - not Arendt - not Marx - not the New Left - not racial blindness If they don’t address races it doesn’t actually help

We watched people standing in line for 8-10 hours to vote in Georgia, so they made it illegal to give them water. They called in bomb threats to majority Black polling places. They did everything they could to suppress the vote. And then folks are out here like, "well Georgia voted for this lol"

"oh no, this'll make the right wing mad!" Buddy they get into a frothing rage over like, cereal mascots and cartoon characters and the mere existence of gay people and what oil a French fry is cooked in and women knowing how to read, etc. They'll get mad anyway, no matter what. Tell em to fuck off

Hey, just a quiet reminder: it’s not true that people get more conservative as they age. *Populations* get more conservative as they age because poor and marginalized people die sooner. nymag.com/intelligence...

Some are shocked there are Christians in Gaza — surprise: we're human. We dance, study, fall in love, some wear hijab, some don’t. We have joy, pain, music, crime, faith, and freedom. Gaza isn’t a myth or a fantasy. It’s a real, diverse society like anywhere else in the world. #GazaLoveLifeToo 💔🇵🇸

I do wish that more stories about the El Salvador prison where Trump disappeared people would note that it’s only different from US prisons in that it’s in another country, not because of the conditions. People are tortured and put in grave danger on American soil every day in our prisons.

Repeatedly during floor debate on the ERA, Minnesota Republicans invoked #TitleIX and the long fight for women’s inclusion in sports as an argument to EXCLUDE some women from sports. Well, Peg fought that battle in 1972 and won, and she’s vocal about her support for trans athletes.

You sound like someone who is not regularly confronted with debates about your humanity. Maybe we should fix that for you and see how long it takes before you decide that you don’t want to spend your free time arguing over whether you’re a person.
