Plans for the weekend? Pax is very clear about his 😄

If we value freedom of the mind and soul... This was too beautiful not to share.

A pure moment of shared, unabated joy ❤️

I am not at all in a humor for writing; I must write on till I am. ~Jane Austen, Personal Correspondence #writerslife

Note to self: the first gauge to see if you're on the right track storywise is whether you're having fun writing it or not. If not, look for the last place where you had fun, figure out what choices you made that didn't resonate with said fun, and try again.

excerpt from haruki murakami's "novelist as vocation". the whole book is really grounding to read & i recommend it to all my fellow creators tbh. however you feel about his work he is a really sensible person

Great podcast interview on Green Dreamer on seeding change towards collective healing, sustainability, regeneration, and how stories feed our soul. podcastaddict.com/green-dreame...

Happy day of the Magi! Can't believe it's the last day of Xmas. The tree and twinkle lights have been taken down, which feels weird. But I'm looking forward to new adventures this year! XO --Pax and Puck #MightyPax #MorganaTrilogy #digitalillustration

Note to self: Do not, for the love of all that's good, ever spend another entire night reading. Your body's clearly not built for that. #hardlesson

One of the rare times Pax doesn't move too much for a picture. If someone were to go through my photo gallery, they'd think all he does is sleep 😅

Sometimes, it's very hard for me not to jump ahead and read the ending first.

I love finding traces of the magic world around us while out on my walks. Exhibit A: A chestnut fairy has hung up her apron after spending hours roasting chestnuts for the party. Exhibit B: A warbling fairy left the ants three tiny umbrellas after she stole into their pantry and ate all their jam.

I admit, I had a blast drawing Pax in scrubs! And no, he did not have to model this one for me 🤣 His surgery, which happened a little over two years ago now, and which I go over in The Big Booboo, went thankfully very well 😊 #MightyPax #childrensbooks #childrenillustration #frenchbulldog

Failure is probably the most important factor in all of my work. Writing is failure. Over and over and over again. ~Ta-Nehisi Coates #quote #writing

Pax: I really don't get what all the fuss is about writing stories. I'd much rather get petted. Get your priorities straight! 🐾

Our vanity, our self-love, promotes the cult of the genius. For if we think of genius as something magical, we are not obliged to compare ourselves and find ourselves lacking.... To call someone 'divine' means: 'here there is no need to compete. '" ~Nietzsche #quote while reading Grit by A Duckworth

Hack: Whenever I reeeeally want to read a book, and my insane TBR pile makes me feel too guilty to buy it for myself, I use any holiday as an excuse to get it for my family instead, knowing they'll lend it to me. PS: our book tastes are very similar so it's a win-win for all.

Quote from Ray Bradbury on the inspiration behind one of his stories (1/2): "The Toynbee Convector" was born because of my reaction to the bombardment of despair we so frequently find in our newspaper headlines and television reportage, and the feeling of imminent doom...

You're not "late to the party" when you enjoy an old book for the first time. Books don't have an RSVP deadline. The party started long ago, and guests show up when they're meant to.

There's a story that a celebrity wanted his portrait done by Picasso. The painter looked at him, and then drew his profile in one go. Done, Picasso then asked him for $50K. The artist was flabbergasted. "But it only took you 5 minutes to draw that!" To which Picasso said, "No, it took me 30 years."

It's finally here! The Big Booboo is inspired by the time when Pax (the real one) suddenly lost the use of his back legs a little over 2 years ago. It was very scary, but don't worry: it ends well! Note: there are also some games at the end 😉 Happy reading ❤️ Age range: 2-5
