The Canadian Right would be much more successful if they were less obsessed with countering measures that reduce costs for families and pollution nationalpost.com/opinion/look...

Right problem, terribly wrong solutions. A thread/rant on an excessively disappointing first month of 🇨🇦 Prime Minister @mark-carney.bsky.social's government. 🧵 #cdnpoli

Here's a fun values test: will the federal government side with BC or Alberta in the push for (imaginary & unlikely to ever be economically viable) heavy crude pipelines off the coast? nationalpost.com/news/canada/...

So. Many. Hypotheticals. www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...

The way many (not all!) in media and politics freak out over the "collapse" of EV battery projects, but not a peep on the unproven at scale + eye-watering carbon capture and storage government has been funneling money into for decades with very little to show.

PM Mark Carney's government must pick a path. At a time when there are evacuations in Manitoba and Northern Ontario, it is irresponsible to increase the expansion of volatile, unnecessary fossil fuel projects. 🧵 globalnews.ca/news/1117981...

Excited to immediately stop hearing about the demise of the EV in media and uninformed political speeches

Accurate reminder.

Shout-out to @avankoeverden.bsky.social for your appointment as Secretary of State for sport. Your hard work for athletes, including by making sure the places we love are clean and safe, has been essential. Canada has a strong climate champion here🚵‍♀️

Congratulations @juliedabrusin.bsky.social on becoming the new Minister of Environment and Climate Change! More than ever, we need your strong understanding of renewable energy + how climate policies make our lives better. Looking forward to working with you. 🔆

Congratulations to PM @mark-carney.bsky.social’s new cabinet– Canada’s most climate literate cabinet so far. The @canrac.bsky.social Secretariat and its members look forward to working with you to defend 🇨🇦 from the intertwined climate and economic threats. 1/

An unreal exchange. www.nationalobserver.com/2025/05/06/n...

Congratulations to my friends working in research, at the CBC, at Environment Canada and in the green economy for not being defunded or cut for political reasons.

Last night was a real mixed bag for climate champions in Parliament. My heart breaks for those we lost- and I'm celebrating the wins of some solid folks too!

Last weekend, my partner and I showed up for climate in #Election2025 & voted to protect the people and places we love💚 #ShowUp4Climate

Thanks to the dedicated work of youth & civil society, the Youth Climate Corps is making its way into parties' platforms! 💪🎉 The @liberalca.bsky.social, @ndp.ca and @canadiangreens.bsky.social have all made commitments towards a Youth Climate Corps. See our release with @climateunit.bsky.social ⬇️

Reading the Conservative platform - they are dreaming in technicolour when they say they'll use Article 6 (of the Paris agreement) to get credits for Canadian oil and gas exports. See climateinstitute.ca/canada-canno...

So I'm sure there are a bunch of folks looking up "privy council + foraging" right now, for no specific reason. Here's the report: horizons.service.canada.ca/en/2025/01/1...

Everything about this internal Conservative presentation leaked to @raisapatel.bsky.social is scandalous.

Completely overshadowed by the pipeline measuring contest #Debate2025

Here we go again with the pipeline-measuring contest. #elxn45 #debates2025

Last night's #elxn45 debate en français was basically a big pipeline measuring contest between Mr Carney and Mr Poilievre.

The Beaverton demands same debate invitation as The Rebel, even though we’re not as big a joke

Dear @spaikin.bsky.social, as moderator of the only English language election debate, I dearly hope you will press our leaders on what they will do to confront the climate emergency...

The latest episode of the CEU podcast Break in Case of Emergency is out. It’s another election special: a policy round-up with the CEU team and special guest @alexcoolfergus.bsky.social. Have a listen 👇 podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/s...

I've worked with Canadian municipalities for years. Today's letter to party leaders raised points that I have been hearing from Mayors and councillors around the country: they need help to adapt to the worse impacts of climate change, while reducing their own emissions.

Fun start to #Broadbent2025 chatting green industrial policy w/ @alexcoolfergus.bsky.social @brhaley.bsky.social @hadrianmk.bsky.social! Markets are not like calculators. They are complex ecosystems shaped by human intervention. We can - and must - direct them to support people and planet.

As Trump wrecks the status quo something new will have to be built to replace it. Competing visions from the left and right wings in Canada are being hashed out this week at dueling conferences in Ottawa. Here's what to watch: www.nationalobserver.com/2025/04/08/n...
