It is always good when you can make lemonade out of lemons: 50501ca.substack.com/p/how-ventur... The summer of 1967 was dubbed "the long, hot summer" because of intense racial unrest across the U.S. Arguably, there was not enough lemonade that year. Let's make lots of lemonade this summer.

In the midst of the challenges that we face, we must not forget our veterans who have fought for our freedom & democracy: drive.google.com/file/d/1ORAY... We, as citizens, must draw a distinction between properly honoring the military & Trump's ego-driven pretense (parade) to honor the military.

It has been a banner year for banners! Today, I was part of a team that made the following banner which I hope will be seen many times in many places by many people....

For a moment of humor at the end of another painful week of Trump...this really captures the moment that we are in: www.facebook.com/watch/?v=190...

This is what truth and intelligence sounds like: www.tiktok.com/@middleeaste... Listen carefully to each and every word. Think about the veracity of each word. This is the kind of leadership to which I was referring in my most recent Substack post: gerwer.substack.com/p/the-unrave...

Today, I posted on LinkedIn my thoughts about leadership in the context of what is happening to the U.S. & what is happening to those in the U.S. We face a crisis of leadership & integrity. We must know great leadership & expect nothing less from our leaders: www.linkedin.com/posts/alexan...

The financial machinations of the Trump administration are destined to cause immense grief for most Americans. Here, I have tried to recap what has happened thus far in the 2nd Trump administration: 50501ca.substack.com/publish/post...

Just thought that I would share some examples of my work for those who might be interested: open.substack.com/pub/gerwer/p...

With all the problems we face in the U.S., this man who has become a "folk hero" is complaining not about the state of affairs in this country, but that he did not like his $150,000 a year job and therefore decided to sail around the world: www.linkedin.com/posts/alexan...

The House Republican Plan to be voted on tonight would take health care & food assistance away from people to pay for tax cuts for wealthy. The plan would cut health coverage by at least $800 billion & SNAP by roughly $300 billion. Write your House Representatives now cryptpad.fr/doc/#/2/doc/...

With everything that is going on, it is easy to forget the significance of the brutal killing of George Floyd & yet with attacks on DEI by our federal government, there is no time more important that the present that we remember & honor George Floyd. Please join me in doing so & show up for him.

What does 'erasure' look like? Take a moment to view a powerful, visual essay. drive.google.com/file/d/1baN6... Without words or music, this video asks you to witness & remember the groups, histories, & even landscapes that now face extinction. This video captures the silence of erasure.

I continue to volunteer assiduously to fight the evil infestation of Trump that continues to ruin a country that was once a bastion of freedom and democracy, albeit an imperfect one. What limits the effectiveness of our fight to protect our country is focus. drive.google.com/file/d/1hzXQ...

I have discovered that one of the things that limits our effectiveness in our fight to protect our country is focus.

Local action is important...it registers at a national level. There are urgent reasons for all of us to be involved to save our country now: 50501ca.substack.com/p/urgent-ale...

I was fortunate enough to participate in two May Day rallies in downtown Los Angeles today. The people I met today at these events are the ones who do so much of the real work...as opposed to the people in the current White House who do so much to mistreat the ones that do so much of the real work.

A very worthwhile article: open.substack.com/pub/50501ca/...

If the FBI arrest of a judge who tried to prevent ICE from deporting someone who appeared in her court www.reuters.com/world/us/fbi... does not shake you to your core, you might want to read this: encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/a...

This is what true, genuine, deep love and respect being shown for a world leader looks like: www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/news... You cannot get it by buying it. You cannot get it by demanding it. You cannot achieve it with scare tactics. The U.S. needs this kind of leader now more than ever.

Here is a great resource both for news and for activism: www.reddit.com/r/50501/?rdt...

What Musk is doing, enabled by Trump, deeply threatens our democracy: 50501ca.substack.com/p/elon-musks... There is no longer room for complacency if democracy is going to survive.

Here is another important opportunity for social action. We cannot let up on peaceful action with a loud voice to wake up our representatives to grow a spine and take a stand. Government needs to stay for the people and by the people.

Here are some protests in the Los Angeles are which are worthy of participation. We need to make our voices heard consistently. This is not a time for complacency.

Gary Kasparov, who survived living in Russia under Putin, writes the following which should serve to focus dissent against Trump's various attacks on freedom: Due process is what maintains individual rights from the capricious actions of the state (government): www.theatlantic.com/internationa...

I volunteered at an anti-Trump rally and food drive in downtown Los Angeles today. It was an incredible experience which I highly recommend. There were at least three other anti-Trump rallies in downtown Los Angeles today. It made me hopeful that perhaps democracy can return to this country.

After seeing Neil Young and his wife, Darrell Hannah, at the Fight Oligarchy Rally in LA last Saturday, I particularly enjoyed Neil's comparison of Trump and Carney: www.msn.com/en-us/news/w...

So @maddow.msnbc.com, DOGE is breaking the government, leaking information, & hurting people. Who will prosecute? @jeffhauser.bsky.social says DOGE should own the consequences of their harm. Check out the therevolvingdoorproject.org/dogewatch/ list of their harm. #Maddow @emptywheel.bsky.social

I expected more of Jay Graber & the team at BlueSkye...but they, like every other corporation in the U.S., have no problem dismissing people out of hand without getting to know them... drive.google.com/file/d/1Xung... I was not asking for a handout, just for an opportunity...like Trump was given.
