impossible to overstate how dumb this is. also funny considering DOE is forcing people to pay high costs to keep uneconomic coal plants running www.utilitydive.com/news/doe-wri...

translation: if you don’t work, you deserve to suffer

funding for national parks is one of those no-brainers that greatly benefits our economy and almost everyone supports. cutting it seems cruel and stupid to almost everyone. this should be a layup for Dem messaging…

beyond comical to release this on the same day Trump states they will revoke Harvard’s tax-exempt status

probably the least efficient and most destructive use of these resources. amazing society we live in

good thing it’s not called the Department of Handbag Security

can’t wait for the new coal-powered school buses

an infuriating and predictable pattern at this point

posting a rare piece of good news via @canarymedia.com

it’s hard to overstate how dumb and backwards all of this is

burning dirty rocks to make Studio Ghibli fascism slop is certainly one way to run a civilization

much of America right now

“mistakenly” is doing a lot of work for the administration here

2024 was the hottest year on record 📈 TV news coverage of climate change decreased by 25% 📉 #EndClimateSilence

“energy dominance” but it’s forcing consumers to pay for uneconomic coal plants because burning things is manly

the current hollowing out of our government is the logical conclusion of the decades-long demonization of government that has seeped into our culture, driven in large part by certain political and economic elites America should be realizing now that government does so much that we take for granted

Americans are once again quickly finding out that you can’t take the most basic level of competency in government for granted

might be a dumb question, but is this legal and/or possible under the energy emergency declaration? thehill.com/policy/energ...

🧐

The biggest obstacles to US decarbonization, according to outgoing Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm: 1. It’s too hard to connect new renewables to the grid due to lack of transmission 2. Not enough investment in 24/7 clean “baseload” power, like nuclear & geothermal heatmap.news/podcast/shif...

something to keep an eye on: In August, the Alliance for Tribal Clean Energy requested that FERC initiate an expedited rulemaking proceeding to consider exempting Native tribes from certain interconnection queue fees and deposits intended to prevent speculative generator interconnection requests.🧵

hello followers 👋👋 it’s nice to see this place buzzing with activity! you can expect me to do a tasteful amount of posting about all things energy, with a slight focus on transmission and interconnection policy and emerging clean tech. maybe some basketball posts every now and then…(go Thunder!)

sometimes it’s nice to get positive news about the energy transition and our efforts to combat climate change: power sector CO2 emissions ⬇️ 7% last year compared to 2022 (⬇️ 19% since 2017) renewable generation ⬆️ 30% since 2017 coal generation ⬇️ 43% since 2017

nuclear > LNG exporting LNG does not always lead to lower global emissions. you have to consider how it is being used (not always for power generation!) and what it may be displacing

great survey by LBNL of wind and solar developers. one main takeaway that matches data and myriad anecdotes: the main barriers to renewable development right now are policy-related / political rather than financial in nature emp.lbl.gov/publications...

can’t wait for Republicans to lament that these are all small family farmers being persecuted by the government
