Former federal workers will have a hard time finding new jobs even in a good economy as they develop skills unrelated to the private sector. As likely hundreds of thousands lose their jobs and cut their spending expect to see the economy contract. #recession www.orlandosentinel.com/2025/02/24/t...

Is it still funny when it’s true?

Some Democratic politicians wonder why @annaforflorida.bsky.social gets quoted in articles like this so much. And the answer is simple, she is willing to provide a clear contrast between herself and the GOP. Aka no one cares about your RepublicanLite take. www.orlandosentinel.com/2025/02/24/d...

Politicians from both parties avoid challenging the regime over fear for their personal safety. Cowards. apple.news/AIa8NSNMkRgi...

I finally got what's bugged me about all these stories on the crippling of the US govt: all of them speak of "cuts" when, in fact, only Congress can 'cut' funding, and it has done nothing of the sort. The story describes illegal & unconstitutional impoundment, BUT SAYS NOT ONE WORD ABOUT IT

Absolutely

Fun fact, in my twenties I got a real estate licensed, but my econ grad work is more relevant here: South Florida homes are overpriced. A drop is coming. A minor recession has been in the works for months but now this regime is crashing the economy. apple.news/AxxzFksrwS7u...

Also a little reminder. One of the reasons student loans are a mess is because good old Joe Biden back in the early 2000s made it nearly impossible to resolve student loan debt in bankruptcy. These government grants will never be paid back. Stop trying to get blood from a stone.

The closest thing I can give to comfort for the 20somethings experiencing their first battles with their student loans is that non payment falls off after 7 years. It sounds terrible to have a low score but many of us lived just fine with terrible scores into our mid 30s apple.news/AptfeD7yjStq...

Florida insurers have been sending all their money to their shareholders instead of paying claims. Execs sent so much money out the door to the rich they even violated Florida’s tepid insurance laws. These people are scum. apple.news/AMW7kxwgiQ92...

At this point sure 🤣

Astonishing crowd inside Manhattan Criminal Court two hours before Luigi Mangione’s follow-up appearance. Organized chaos, people are in cordoned-off gaggles down the full length of the hall, chatting casually. Feels reminiscent of fans waiting for a concert ticket line to open.

Democrats approval last month was the lowest Quinnipiac has ever recorded for them. 2 weeks later Quinnipiac found just 20% approve of Dems in Congress. The Democratic Party needs a major overhaul or it will face serious threats to its survival as new parties will rise to challenge them.

Quinnipiac Jan 26 poll on voter approval of the major parties: Republican Party Approve: 43% Disapprove: 45% Democratic Party Approve: 31% Disapprove: 57%

DDD: Democrats didn’t deliver. Worse still, Democrats lately have taken young voters for granted. So are we surprised many young people have either checked out of the two party system or gravitated toward a strong man?

Washington DC has an office of the tenant advocate. It shocks me that is not the norm everywhere. Legal counsel is ok, but an actual government agency with the power to enforce the law is always way better for consumers and tenants.

Quinnipiac poll out yesterday. Trump: 45% approve 49% disapprove Republicans in Congress: 40% approve 52% disapprove Democrats in Congress: 20% approve 68% disapprove

Federal employees have a duty to this country, that obligation is higher than any law or elected official. Only a mass strike that brings the three branches to their knees will be enough to save this country. America can be saved, but only if we act now. apple.news/AzwZlRb9GTm-...

If you needed data showing the Democratic Party is toast. Quinnipiac poll for Dems was so bad only 40% of Democratic voters approve of them. Dems are either about to see a rash of primary challengers or serious electoral losses.

hey would it bother our congressional leaders too much to all go tell trump to fuck himself for calling himself the king? if you could just deign to do that, it would be nice.

Ukraine is an imperfect nation, but the U.S. regime’s support of Russia should alarm us all. We might be about to see the U.S. not just abandon Ukraine but even possibly become a supporter of their invader. apple.news/AWUd3urwoQyq...

After publishing this story, which features a picture of the protest at Children's National in DC, I have been informed that moments ago, Childrens National in DC has resumed transgender care. The hospital protests worked! Keep doing them!

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau makes sure you don't get scammed by digital payment companies and car lenders. Elon Musk’s role as CEO of X Money and Tesla makes DOGE’s takeover of the CFPB a clear conflict of interest. @schiff.senate.gov and I are pressing for answers.

Some of us came to the conclusion the Dems have abandoned us, not from Russian or CIA propaganda, but by watching them do nothing while constantly texting us for money.

My allies don't support mass incarceration & mass deportations. My allies don't profit off the stock market. My allies don't fight against universal healthcare. My allies don't fund the police. My allies don't fund genocides. My allies don't abandon trans people. But thanks for the reminder!

This story is insane. Florida Jewish man opens fire at two Israeli tourists he thought were Palestinians. (How is that ok?) The two victims assumed it was an anti semitic attack and posted afterword online “death to the Arabs.” www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

As a political scientist who studies countries that managed to stop the slide into authoritarianism, I can assure you that ***refraining from provoking the authoritarian*** is not how it works. Without further ado, I will now go tear out another chunk of hair.
