30 years of Monolith and it's gone just like that, making these developers pay the price for years of notoriously poor management from WB executives that will never face meaningful consequences.

R.I.P. Monolith Productions One of the best to ever do it

me playing it cool

The fact that it has been impossible for anyone do a remaster of Monolith's No One Lives Forever is like a micro-cosm of everything wrong with the games industry. kotaku.com/the-sad-stor...

Institutional knowledge wiped out. And no one's going to want to pay them what they're worth, at least not in bulk. This generation of layoffs will cause permanent pivots away from gamedev.

I just found out that Warner Bros. permanently closed Monolith Productions. What an absolutely travesty. Blood, No One Lives Forever, Condemned, and F.E.AR. are among my all-time favourite games.

The Monolith CD (Windows 3.x, 1995) RIP Monolith Productions.

Aphex Twin's remix of 808 State's Flow Coma has been an A+ track for me. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SP_...

from hell’s heart I stab at thee; for hate’s sake I spit my last breath at thee

I just found out that Meta/Facebook spent $46B developing this.

This is why tech is trying to capture and destroy the US administrative state - so that they can force everyone to attend remote meetings as Nintendo Miis

So funny watching this and remembering that one point Facebook employed John Carmack.

The Canadian Encyclopedia asked @niigaanwewidam.bsky.social and I to help set the record straight on the legacy of John A. Macdonald. Rather than unapologetically celebrate Macdonald, we argue he should be remembered, not exalted or emulated: www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/j...

I wonder what percentage of games made before or during the early 2000s would be, particularly for PC gamers. I suspect the number would be pretty high.

Great tune from the inimitable Tori Amos. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KCX...

This week's Warrior Life Podcast is with 1 of my fav Mi'kmaw artists, Alan Syliboy from Millbrook First Nation, who talks about his paintings, music, books & even spoken word! #warriorlifepodcast #indigenous #mikmaq #firstnations #nativeart soundcloud.com/pampalmater/...

Justin is 100 per cent correct here.

Amazing that this joke has only aged like fine wine.

Twin Peaks is a show that contains multitudes.

This past week or so at US Treasury reminds me of Jonathan Zittrain's warnings re: the "perfect enforcement" possibilities embedded in connective technologies. These can move faster than any legal apparatus. DOGE is trying to convert stable political infrastructures into contingent software.

Going to give this a listen later. Like all Indigenous people I have a bone to pick with Pope Alexander VI.

Twin Peaks: The Giant.

This is the top story on the MSNBC website. Uh...sure! www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

There has to be some point where the chaos this is causing just asserts itself, where there is total critcal systems failure across the entire US administration.

Entering "failed state" territory here.

Remembering the joy I experienced and just how happy I was when I first heard this song 8+ years ago. Kind of wish I could go back to that moment now... www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmHh...

A pair of labor unions have sued the U.S. Treasury Department in an effort to halt Elon Musk’s team’s dangerous access to a critical government payment system. “The scale of the intrusion into individuals’ privacy is massive and unprecedented.”

US institutions sleepwalking into disaster.
