the story today is of a profoundly low energy military parade being met with millions of americans in nationwide protests denouncing the dictatorial pretensions of the president

Over 1000 people in little Rhinebeck, NY's protest today!

If the United States saw what the United States is doing in the United States, the United States would invade the United States to liberate the United States from the tyranny of the United States.

yes. i think the only thing the white house has accomplished this week is dramatically grow the crowds against them.

I know we have much bigger problems at the moment, but it's very annoying to me that it would have been cheaper to take a Lyft home from dinner this evening than it was for my wife and I to ride a pair of electric CitiBikes. (Though not nearly as enjoyable.)

@chrislhayes.bsky.social: The overwhelming majority of protesters in Los Angeles have been peaceful. But you would not know that from watching Fox News.

"Nobody’s going to spit on our police officers," says Trump, who four months ago pardoned people who beat police officers with pipes, flagpoles, baseball bats and 2-by-4s at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Millions of Americans drive two-ton vehicles impaired, far above speed limits and play with phones—law-breaking causing tens of thousands of death and solvable with current tech and real enforcement. Anyone blathering about capping e-bike speeds in the name of public safety is not a serious person.

These people are evil. I'm so sick of hearing this shit and then hearing people defend it. It's all evil and vile.

AOC: “The girls are fighting, aren’t they?”

must be incredibly frustrating and disheartening to have federal funding that was promised to you for important work suddenly and arbitrarily ripped away

The enemy of my enemy is still my enemy but I still like seeing them fight

hahahahahahahahahahhahahahahaha (breath) hahahahahahaha

I have seen more than one person say that talking about Cuomo’s documented sexual harassment is “purity politics” and y’all, the purity politics label is supposed to be about “sorry this guy’s not ABSOLUTELY PERFECT, so I can’t vote for him.” It’s not for “this guys the fucking WORST.”

Unfortunately this is true in NYC building codes and standards. The city’s okay at resisting the fire protection industry, but helpless against even a small union. Tower cranes (talk about a tiny union!), plastics in piping and electric – all but banned at the behest of labor unions.

@timmiller.bsky.social: “If you're using so much ketamine that you have bladder control issues, it might be time for a lifestyle change.”

My wife happens to be friends with NY State Assembly member Emérita Torres, representing District 85 in the Bronx. She is incredibly smart and has nuanced, well-developed views on a range of important issues, including housing. She is exactly the kind of person we want in government.

what makes NYC one of the greatest cities in the world in the same way London and mumbai are is that nothing ever fazes the people in these places. A guy dressed as a rat carrying a slice of pizza bigger than the average child? Sidestep, take the railing go about your day and never think of it again

I was on a subway on NYC once and the voice on the PA came on and said, if you’re the child who lost their parent at the last station, get off at the next stop and you mother will meet you there.

trump tried to do something illegal, the MTA refused to comply, and the MTA just won the lawsuit. congestion pricing survives. this is a lesson for every organization and institution battling Trump: DO NOT COMPLY IN ADVANCE

Proud of the stand @harvard.edu is making. Proud of the way @theharvardcrimson.bsky.social has been reporting it. Alum of both, giving money to both. These famously privileged institutions are leading the fight for all of us. Respect. www.thecrimson.com/article/2025...

Really something to watch the head of the law and order party committing blatant corruption in front of all of us as his hand-selected justices make up laws to suit their pocketbooks and his goons deport innocent immigrants

Whatever your very valid criticisms of the Democratic party are, they in fact DID have a "reckoning" over Biden.

Look, all I know is that air traffic controllers are losing contact with airplanes around the nation, but the Secretary of Transportation is focused on what counts: NYC removed one vehicular lane that's only open for 15 hours a day anyway on one bridge going into Manhattan.

red fucking flag people!!

Fight! Fight! Fight!

I have never had this happen. I submitted a 311 complaint for this car parked directly in the crosswalk in front of my house since early this morning and a cop came to my door to tell me he's writing a ticket! He was very friendly, too. A glimmer of hope in an otherwise crazy world 🙂
