It’s been true for a while now, but republicans cannot call themselves the “party of law and order.” With every egregious breach of law, and with every lawmaker who excuses, ignores, or assents to this lawlessness, they become the party of criminality. Of lawlessness.

There’s a lot of bs on this whole thing, but I’ll pause on the part that affects every child for just a moment. Adding “unifying, inspiring, and ennobling” to the list means it will not be accurate, nor honest. People aren’t perfect, and we need to know about their flaws as well as their merits.

I’ve seen a few folks now advocating for a “shutdown” on March 16th. That’s not going to matter. A single day of inactivity is a drop in the bucket. Especially since the day before and the day after will just end up with greater purchasing, essentially equalizing things.
