Looking for some good news?Applications open for @britishacademy.bsky.social International Fellowships Programme. www.thebritishacademy.ac.uk/funding/inte...

We are very excited to announce the open release of a new 170 participant dataset: Linked MEG, TMS, multimodal 3T MRI, 7T MRI, Connectom MRI, cognitive /questionnaire data. Immense effort from a fabulous CUBRIC team. Paper by Carolyn McNabb et al: doi.org/10.1038/s415...

what a great idea, and registration is free (for those who can afford travelling to Ontario)

PhD position available to work at the Cardiff University Brain Imaging Centre, with me and Petroc Sumner, to find better behavioural and cognitive measures to support mental health research www.findaphd.com/phds/project... please share widely and be in touch if interested [email protected]

Join us on February 26 for the upcoming One World Seminar “How big is that bagel? Differences in size constancy for perception and action.” presented by Mel Goodale from The University of Western Ontario, Canada. Register for free today! https://buff.ly/3CrCacG

New work with UCL PhD student Max Maier. We develop a risky-choice variant, the Extinction Gambling Task, for studying repeated choice situations where choices are consequential. Max also derived the optimal policies and developed a computational model to classify strategies. Check it out!

Definitely trying this!

when the paper you're reviewing put the figures at the end

Nice work!

Very nice results, yet surprised interpretation all in terms of prior knowledge. Constant intervals allow predictability, but may also affect neural network dynamics w/o cognitive influences. Isn’t a control cond with predictable yet variable intervals needed to support conclusions ?

Great advice from Chris Chambers at our Cardiff University School of Psychology research away day on increasing the visibility of your research

Had a great time at the AVA Xmas meeting back in December where a lot of great vision work was being presented. I'm grateful to have been awarded a poster prize for our current work on measures of executive control; SSRT and our potential alternative, ΔT. Find the prereg at osf.io/n4xek/regist...

📢 Our lab is hiring! 🚨 Come and join our group in #Tubingen to work on real-time fMRI and the mechanisms underlying inconsistent decision making! Cutting edge methods in an interdisciplinary team surrounded by beautiful nature - what else do you want? All details here: devcompsy.org/wp-content/u...

New paper in Imaging Neuroscience by Gabriel Weindel, Leendert van Maanen, and Jelmer P. Borst: Trial-by-trial detection of cognitive events in neural time-series doi.org/10.1162/imag...

Congratulations to @heatherrstatham.bsky.social for her prize at the AVA Xmas meeting yesterday 👍 "How long does it take to convert visual signals into instruction driven commands?" delivered the first data towards our pre-registered study osf.io/n4xek/regist... #beyondSSRT 😁

It looks even better once it's typeset for Imaging #Neuroscience 😎 Come take your single trial #ERP : It only costs you an #EEG or #MEG dataset, a few assumptions and a reaction time per trial (and a bit of RAM to be honest) direct.mit.edu/imag/article...

Enjoyed reading « How measurement noise limits the accuracy of brain-behaviour predictions » by Martin Gell this morning www.nature.com/articles/s41... Obvious one may think, but glad someone finally put the effort showing so clearly how problematic this is

Do you know any early career researchers in the UK who have contributed something special to improve research practices? The call for the 2025 Dorothy Bishop award is open now! Nominations close on 26 January 2025. www.ukrn.org/2024/12/12/t...

Our paper on MouseGoggles - an open-source mini VR headset for mice - just came out! Really excited about finally integrating eye-tracking into the headset. Nice working with you @hongyuchang.bsky.social! www.nature.com/articles/s41... github.com/sn-lab/Mouse... #neuroskyence

psycnet.apa.org/fulltext/202... First in depth theoretical and empirical investigation of non-decision time, essential read to all researchers using evidence accumulation models! Plz repost if at least 1 of your followers uses them and thinks that non-decision time capture sensory and motor delays

Finished my PhD! And what a great way to wrap it up - very happy to get to discuss my work and the response inhibition field with @alinebompas.bsky.social! 🤓 These past years, I've been focusing on some of the assumptions we tend to use when researching action stopping... ⬇️

I just finished an experiment: For three weeks I responded to every "invitation" from a predatory journal with "STOP PESTERING ME". Results: I now receive about twice as many per day than before… Time to end the experiment and conclude that I'm just validating my email for them 😎. #science

Love that!

And soon all the lovely abstracts from the AVA Christmas meeting 16th December in Cardiff !

Grateful for the opportunity to examine @cthunberg.bsky.social ‘s PhD thesis in beautiful Oslo, systematically deconstructing flawed assumptions in the response inhibition field. Not only is SSRT poorly repeatable, but it’s too late as a candidate for « inhibitory control »

Proposal to use 'how many starter packs a researcher is included in' as the new h-index.

Count me in please! And @marlouperquin.bsky.social thanks Maciek!

Wow. Here is one to brighten up your morning. The first images of the restored interior of Notre Dame cathedral. Breathtaking. In just five years France did it

Awesome :D

AVA Christmas meeting program in Cardiff is ready www.theava.net/perch/resour... Vision colleagues : check the website and register www.theava.net/meetings.php...

Nice illustration ! Does it continue then with their papers being less read/cited afterwards ?

How we’re saving thousands of litres of liquid helium per year (and $100,000’s). Because it just makes sense. www.neurospeed-bailletlab.org/news/l2ie8wg...

Good discussion on brain decoding, modularity and lots more. #neuroscience

2 associate prof neuroscience jobs being advertised in Oxford. Very fun place to do neuroscience:) my.corehr.com/pls/uoxrecru...

Hi vision colleagues! Join us in Cardiff for the next AVA Christmas meeting 16th Dec www.theava.net/meetings.php... Abstract submission deadline is on Saturday

By popular demand, I have begun making a cognitive neuroscience starter pack. If you scan brains, you can be on it! go.bsky.app/2n84SRM

Testing if this works... Trying to make a starter pack for researchers in #perception science Please share ! Will be adding more folks as I learn how #academicsky works ! go.bsky.app/V99fSBK

📢 New job alert: The Dept. of Psychological & Brain Sciences at UCSB is hiring a new Director for our Brain Imaging Center! Join us in sunny Santa Barbara and please help spread the word! (Full Professor position—due by Dec 2) 🧠 🌊 recruit.ap.ucsb.edu/JPF02858

Do you prefer big trial numbers or big participant number? Don’t say both :D

🚨We're recruiting! Interested in making science and computing more environmentally friendly? Now's the time! Very excited to build a research group at Cambridge Uni to expand our Green Algorithms work thanks to the support of the Wellcome Trust www.green-algorithms.org/join-us #AcademicSky #SciSky

Lovely!
