I’m even older - my UG dissertation was totally written by hand and I still have my draft copy with real cut and pasted paragraphs- yes with scissors and sellotape. Unless you knew a friendly copy typist , it cost money to have it typed out.

1975/78 we all had university scarfs - Liverpool had different variations depending on the faculty you were studying in. Gosh, that dates me 😂

I was lucky to have a consultant gynae who took one look at me and said you need to come in NOW! I wasn’t aware how dangerously near I was to the worst until after my op.

For RII (I’m going to the Bridge next month to see it😁) I’d suggest having an outline of the real historical events. I studied it for ALevel years ago and knowing that helped. As for Cymbeline more difficult! Suggest looking at short study guides.

That’s what “they” said about Wokingham- (risking sounding like a nimby)yes they’ve built thousands of houses but done nothing about the infrastructure- heavy traffic, lack of doctors etc. empty fields don’t = good living prospects.

I know you’re concentrating on Peterborough but if you have a mo do look at some of the overlaying cases from Liverpool -Aspinall certainly blamed living conditions but both parents were often called to account.

@andrewpopp.bsky.social I was self promoting too -as Sophie knows well😉😂. I think you and I agree about the ‘importance’ of respectability …
comment in response to

Indeed, they were supposed to keep all their family them respectable. Went in their favour if they were described as a respectable person. Difficult to define what it meant to different folk but a good thing to be described as ‘poor but respectable. I know a book that mentions the concept …😏x
