How would you like to be part of Wales' international crime fiction festival? Well here's your chance! Many of the Welsh authors appearing will also be volunteering - I'm already signed up so come and join us! 😀

This book (seen here with multiple post-it notes protruding!) is one of my sources for the next Oxford Mystery - The Hunters Club - which will be out later this year. WT - William - Stead, editor of The Pall Mall Gazette changed the nature of newspaper journalism and I've got Non writing for him...

Submitted final edits for the Oxford Mysteries #3 today - 3 days ahead of deadline! Feeling good about it and already planning proof drops during the summer. If you're a bookshop and you'd like a proof copy, let me know!

Also, you'll all need to read book three just to find out what "Bumblepuppy" is... (Apart from the most wonderful sounding name for anything!)

The joy of the day job is working on some brilliant books - today I'm going through final development notes on @alishawkinsauthor.bsky.social's next novel which, trust me, you are all going to love! If you ain't read her Oxford mysteries yet, you are missing out -- joyously superb historical crime!

As soon as I'd dropped this bag, Izzy was in there! It didn't hold her interest for long though. She was out in 30 seconds - probably in search of a more satisfactory receptacle. Like a box...

Can't wait to read this!

As I gear up for the new book (THE FRIDAY GIRL) release in March (with some news and further details due tomorrow), I should properly introduce myself to all you lovely readers on #booksky 📚 -- I'm Scottish, an author of dark crime fic, & an editor, too. Follow me for books and film nonsense!

This sounds right up my street! Except that, very annoyingly, I'm already committedt that evening. Still, you can watch it, dear Bluesky...

The internet - not all bad...

Authors of Bluesky - a question. Am I alone in being absolutely incapable of divorcing development editing from line editing? Basically, every time I go through my latest MS, even if I'm primarily looking at structure, I'll change anything from commas to chapters. Just me or what? #authors #editing

Got my PLR (Public Lending Right) payment this week. That's the payment authors get from the government for library loans of their book. (11.7p per book borrowed in case you're interested) So here's a HUGE thank you to the thousands of people who have borrowed my books - it means so much to me!

I second this. (As if Joanne Harris needed any backup from me...)

Seems an excellent choice given current announcements about research funding over the Pond...

Can't wait for the next LIVE Crime Cymru Festival!

Looking forward to this!

Just booked my ticket for @baytales.bsky.social! Whitley Bay here I come on St David's Day! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

You can now catch me on AMI (Accessible Media Inc) pocast My Life in Books with blind author and intereviewer Red Szell. The podcast discusses audiobooks, specifically to help VI readers find good reads. It was fab to hear that I'd nailed the physical and emotional aspects of losing your sight!

Had a fabulous time on Saturday seeing the Abba concert which was my birthday present last year from my family - the whole experience (bar a technical delay at one point) was amazing. I hadn't realised until we got there that the entire arena was purpose-built for these concerts!

Very lovely to read this from a reader ☺️

Well this is very lovely...☺️

Trevor Wood is a top human being. In his first crime series he highlighted the fact that homeless people are people to whom homelessness happens - they're not 'the homeless'. Now he's raising awareness of early onset dementia through the eyes of his main character. AND he's raising money! Click now

'A government spokesperson said: “Current uncertainty about how copyright law applies to AI is holding back the creative industries and AI sector from realising their full potential."' I notice the government are not sugesting the power companies give the AI sector their electricity for free.

Great to hear @susiedent on Michael Rosen's Radio 4 show this week. I was sad when her podcast with Gyles Brandreth, Something Rhymes with Purple, came to an end, but lately she's popped up on Radio 4's new comedy show, Unspeakable, with @wangpix which is both funny and feeds my etymology nerdiness!
