NYC: I’m teaching a weekend workshop for nonfiction writers (but also, whoever) on a topic I am utterly obsessed with, at Brooklyn’s Center for Fiction. April 12-13! centerforfiction.org/group-worksh...

Finally used my airline lounge pass for the first time and I gotta say: that is worth it

Google’s AI, so helpful

My wishlist for these Oscars is that Conan’s writers take the time to come up with some bit that isn’t about how nobody has seen the nominees. At least provide citations

Here's one small thing to look forward to: An opera of THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF KAVALIER & CLAY coming to the Metropolitan Opera in September. www.metopera.org/season/2025-...

If you leverage AI in literature review, CHECK THOSE REFERENCES. I just finished reading through a proposal on a topic that I knew well, and thus was surprised to see several papers referenced that I hadn't known of. Then when I looked them up online, I found they didn't exist. 7 fake references.

Can someone explain what the Zoomers mean when they say “third places”? They’ve redefined the term and I can’t quite figure it out

Hey! Guess what! You can come hear me talk about Joan Didion, Hollywood, American political culture, and WE TELL OURSELVES STORIES (@liveright.bsky.social) very soon. There's even a virtual date!

If you have ever had the fortune/misfortune of being in one of my writing workshops you will understand how excited I am to have not one but TWO upcoming reasons to haul my old MFA thesis on the second person out of the attic

Oh, because of one tiny tidbit in here that I didn’t reveal and they were very concerned that I do know about. Everyone was lovely. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/13/m...
