Finally, the perfect role for Noel Fielding

Also, the mascot of the museum was created by Hayao Miyazaki (of Ghibli fame)

Went to Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum today. Bit of an odd, but interesting place: they have relocated old buildings (some hundreds of years old) to a park where they're preserved and you can walk round them. Highly recommended.

Classic 😘

Another glimmer of hope, gone

Found in a local shop: Yebisu Creative Brew that uses smoked malts. Not sure if this is back in season or the shop I found it in is carry some old stock. In any case, I'm chuffed. Love this beer. #brewsky #BSkyBeer #ビール

Mickey, it's not what it looks like.

Guinness Original. It is what it is. Nothing to write home about, but a classic all the same. Weirdly small bottles here in Japan though (330ml instead of 500)

Taking it down a level after that rich stout. Up next is a rice lager from Niigata, an area of Japan famous for rice production. My perception of rice lagers is they're cheap, piss water, but this has bags of flavour. Probably the best Japanese lager I've ever had. #brewsky #BSkyBeer

Just had a boss carbonara with my homemade bacon (and homemade focaccia) so keeping the Italian vibe going, I'm having a tiramisu beer for dessert. It's got a very strong coffee flavour... am I just topping up my caffeine levels? πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

Up first is an Yebisu Creative Brew. This season they've used a roasted Japanese tea called houjicha (γ»γ†γ˜θŒΆ). There's a nice tea flavour but I think it's a little overpowered by the hops. Still, not a bad beer at all. #brewsky #bskybeer #yebisu #ヱビス

Went to Woodberry Coffee in Ogikubo today at around 3pm and, for reasons still unclear, I decided to have 2 cups of coffee. Gonna offset that with some beers in an attempt to maybe get some sleep tonight.

Serendipity. I recently discovered a cask conditioned beer festival in Tokyo I wanted to go to. I also made a new friend who I was going to invite, but it turned out he's already got a ticket. I've definitely found one of my people here in Japan πŸ˜„

Up next Geordie Greep's "The New Sound", since we will go to see him live on Thursday at LiquidRoom, Tokyo.

One of the perks of working from home. Let's go! Now playing: 'To Shoot Another Day' by Rosalie Cunningham

In other news, I went for a walk today and saw some γ‚γ˜γ‚ (mejiro) flitting around in some rapeseed plants. They were incredibly fast and difficult to photograph! Nice to see some Japanese nature in the city ❀️

Last night, my friend explained that when you drink sake (ζ—₯ζœ¬ι…’) from a traditional sake hai, it removes the aroma and makes the drink drier on the palate. I used a small dish because I don't have a hai, and I was surprised at the difference the drinking vessel makes!

We had boots. That's the best way to drink beer in Japan I reckon.

I got a cold 2 weeks ago, then an infection which required antibiotics. I'm off for my first pint in 2 weeks with a pal, and I cannot wait 🍻
