Happy Liberation Day, everyone…

Our beautiful little Luna chilling on the deck…

Through its 30x30 Initiative, the Alexandria Police Department hopes to increase the percentage of female officers to 30% of the total force by 2030, including an increase of women in leadership positions. The percentage is currently 20%, which is 7% higher than the national average.

In an ideal world, politics would be as mundane, routine & boring as an HOA meeting & thus, only serious, reasonable & responsible folks would engage with it. Crackpots, fanatics & low information voters should all just go back to their bread & circuses…

Dropkick Murphys just had an epic moment at their show: They made a friendly wager with a fan in a MAGA shirt—“Let’s see where it’s made.” Then they checked his MAGA shirt tag… Made in Nicaragua. They swapped it with a Made in America Dropkick Murphys tee. Legendary.

Trump Says Recession Unfortunate But Necessary Step To Get To Depression theonion.com/trump-s...

When they wrote that song “I Don’t Like Mondays”, they certainly couldn’t conceive of this Monday. What a glorious day for us democracy-loving folks… May the slide continue… #Resist

I still pinch myself at the thought that I can simply send a text & have recreational weed delivered directly to my door in Northern Virginia. That’s probably the only cool new development of this largely crap century…

I gotta imagine that most of the kids who launched the first wave of UK punk were just as much into Sweet as they were the Stooges or Velvet Underground or MC5, probably even more so as they were ever present in early-1970s British youth culture. These glam lads rocked with serious attitude…

It’s disgusting that folks scapegoat the people of Gaza for the outcome of the 2024 election, particularly in Michigan. Muslim-Americans can be just as morally bankrupt, xenophobic & indifferent to the Palestinian genocide as the rest of America & many voted for the orange sociopath with glee.

In my perfect world, we’d be ushering @ocasio-cortez.house.gov & @repjasmine.bsky.social into the White House on January 20, 2029. Two bold advocates for democracy & working Americans. The Democratic Party needs to end their system of seniority & instead, allow genuine leaders to rise in the party.

You can always depend on the Elephant Graveyard to get to the heart of the matter & expose the pathology that fuels the continuing degeneration of our toxic culture & sadistic politics. I cannot recommend this video highly enough. Bravo!

Do I really need to follow you back if all you do is repost the political accounts that I already follow? It would be nice if folks could maybe share some of their personal along with their political, if only for the slightest sense of a human connection…

Hey, @nycosmossc.bsky.social, are you aware that Rednex, the Eurotrash act that cursed us with “Cotton Eyed Joe”, also released a video for a song called “Football Is Our Religion” that has a guy wearing a Cosmos t-shirt? Godawful song but interesting trivia…

As a Virginian, @markwarner.bsky.social is my senator. With this level of cravenness & undue deference to the plutocrat in the White House, I sincerely hope Senator Warner has a strong primary contender next go around. We must elect fighters who understand the gravity of this moment in our nation.

Exciting news for the USL Championship finding national broadcast network & cable platforms.

I got really bored, so I started messing with Snapchat. Evidently, this is what I’d have looked like in the 1960s. I guess I’m not a hippie (yay!) or a mod (aww), but I like to think this guy would eventually abandon bourgeois conventions & become part of the New York underground hipster scene…

It must be frustrating for the @bsky.app football community to be largely ignored while political postings get massive engagement. Maybe this is a clarion call for clubs to be more explicit in their political posture & more involved with direct action which folks increasingly demand of all sectors.

Happy birthday to our beautiful little Stella who was born on this day one year ago. Well, not exactly this day as she was born on February 29, but it was a year ago. I love our precious baby girl so much❤️

Ramadan Mubarak to my beautiful wife, her wonderful family & everyone else who will be observing. Peace & love to you all…

Thank you so much to President Obama & the Democratic Party for passing the Affordable Care Act. I can’t imagine how much medical debt I would have accrued these past three weeks without it. Fuck the Republicans & idiots who say there’s no difference between the parties can seriously kick rocks…

Well, if there is any positive to take away from my @inovahealth.bsky.social hospital stay, it’s that I was able to get room service for the first time in my life. It also allowed me to say “thank you so much” many times, which was pretty cool. The nurses, service staff & doctors were amazing.

When I was a child, talk of the foundation of a European Union inspired a great deal of excitement & optimism for peace & prosperity in Europe, particularly after millions had died in wars on that continent over the course of the 20th Century… It has certainly rewarded that optimism since 1992…

Some folks are saying “Oh, there is nothing aberrant about these current aviation crashes & near-misses & you shouldn’t exaggerate them.” But, since uniformed voters now wield the most influence in America, we must exploit every spectacle to undermine this administration’s attacks on public safety.

DEI is very much a merit-based program. It ensures that folks with merit who come from marginalized communities are afforded opportunities. Using the term “DEI hire” derogatorily is a racist assumption & dog whistle. Racial minorities are only one of many groups that benefit from the program.

Back in the @inovahealth.bsky.social Alexandria Hospital emergency room again. Oh well…

I recall, back in the day, I was really excited to go see Loop (I was a shoegazer who couldn’t get enough of noise bands) at the old 9:30 Club in DC. They had an opening act that I thought sounded kinda heavy metal. They were an obscure band from Seattle called Nirvana…
