Does anyone who has done behavioral research have a recommendation for a good camera that can: 1. record the date and time that a video was shot 2. Has a long battery life

PROCESS v5 for R now automatically generates interaction plots and Johnson-Neyman plots in models with a moderation component (see below). Download PROCESS v5 beta3 from the Resource Hub at the ccramsessions.com. Come talk to me about it at haskayne.ucalgary.ca/ccram/academy in July 2025. #spsp2025

Amazing juxtaposition

How the preconference started 🌞 How the preconference ended ❄️ #SPSP2025

@lydiaemery.bsky.social gave an excellent talk with concrete tips on how to recruit low SES couples. Building trust and flexibility are 🔑 (recognizing that folks may not trust researchers/institutions and may not want to come into your lab) #SPSP2025 #spspcloserels

Ummm #SPSP2025 did you all know we're supposed to get 3-7" of snow this evening? forecast.weather.gov/showsigwx.ph...

There is nothing as useful as a good shiny app— And here’s one for illustrating the effects of careless responding! #SPSPCloseRels @brettmurpsych.bsky.social

Any day that starts with a Bowlby metaphor is a good day #SPSPCloseRels

The important data being presented at #SPSPCloseRels congrats @chops310.bsky.social on your well-deserved award!

An inspiring article on courageous community college leaders who are *publicly* organizing and standing up against DEI attacks.. www.insidehighered.com/news/governm...

May all your owls be superb

I’ve now posted the National YRBS data, 2015-2023, here. I’ll add the state and district data soon. www.datalumos.org/datalumos/pr...

This account is for sharing info with US scientists, both extramural and intramural to NIH, about attacks on science in the US. Education is power, and we can help advocate for science and medicine together. 💪🧪 We are a team of NIH people. Please ask us questions you might have.

An anonymous citizen messaged me with a question: What is the opposite of Diversity-Equity-Inclusion? His response: Monopoly-Inequity-Exclusion (MIE) (or MIE-inaccessibility (MIEI) if you include accessibility, DEIA)

President Trump issued an executive order to find out what education funds he can legally rescind based on curriculum he doesn’t like. Existing law already answers that question —nothing.

The 🤮emoji has now entered my top 10 most frequently used. Thanks January.

BERNIE SANDERS: Vaccines do not cause autism. Do you agree? RFK Jr: As I said, I'm not going into HHS with any preordained-- SANDERS: I asked you a simple question, Bobby RFK Jr: If you show me those studies ... SANDERS: That is a very troubling response

Does anyone know if there is any kind of envelope or folder that records the date/time opened for repeated openings? Essentially, a MEMS Cap for documents.

Having a meeting about how *hand wave* all this influences plans for seeking external funding this semester and moved it to my living-room-style lab space because "this conversation deserves couches"

Lifecourse transitions associated with independence and adulthood are increasingly happening later in the lifecycle.

This isn't mine at all, but the Magic School Bus TV cartoon, which inspired untold millennials including myself, originated as an NSF grant 🧪 www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/...

"We believe that it is time to rethink this practice of destroying audio and video data in human subjects research. The default position should be that researchers should retain such data and describe plans for storing, archiving, and protecting this data in their IRB submissions."

If you're struggling financially due to government fuckery or for any reason really and you need infant formula talk to your pediatrician we can hook you up and don't like to ask questions.

NEW: Federal judge temporarily blocks Trump’s freeze on federal grants and loans. (AP) apnews.com/live/trump-p...

Working w/ a reporter on the consequences of the NIH/NSF freezes (e.g., training pipelines, how grants support clinical time for trials) If you've had a grant impacted, some organizational perspective (e.g., in APPIC leadership/DCT role) + are willing to share your experience please shoot me a DM

Hot off the press! 📣📣In this tutorial we illustrate available multiple imputation approaches for handling longitudinal data including when they are clustered within higher level clusters. A reproducible example with R and Stata code provided! #OpenAccess onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...

Researchers who used the Trier Social Stress Test before, do you know how effective it is for more mature participants? So far we only tried for 18-29. Just assume more mature people wouldn't feel too stressed talking about their dream job in front of 2 people. Not sure if we need to amplify it.

#HealthForAll For everyone. Everywhere.

I can't think of a better person to learn about "Longitudinal Data Analysis and Visualization" from than Dr. Andrea Howard, offered in-person in Calgary July 15-16, 2025, at Rocky Mountain Methodology Academy. A trip to Banff is included. More information at haskayne.ucalgary.ca/ccram/academy

Would explain why this is hitting NIH and not (*yet*) NSF and IES.

This is great work and aligns with something I have been saying for a while... humans enjoy working hard toward goals. It gives us a sense of purpose. I think the current emphasis on quick and easy solutions is making people feel lost (with impacts on mental health), including many college students.

As we could all do with some joy, Equal Marriage has become legal in Thailand, and yesterday a whole bunch of lovely people got hitched. www.theguardian.com/world/galler...

I hope everyone is ok, in Trump-adjusted terms. Last few days have been more exhausting than usual for me and I’m sure many of you. Rest if you can. Eat a piece of fruit. Have some water. Move your body. Love someone. Donate something you don’t need anymore. Smile at a stranger. Read a poem.

Can we push our professional societies to make public statements about today's incursions? I'm assuming SPSP isn't that influential outside our circle, but APA might have some clout.

If you are ready to advocate to your representatives (or friends and families) about the economic value of NIH funded research, you can check your state at www.unitedformedicalresearch.org/nih-in-your-...

My sister works at a non-profit helping refugee/immigrants resettle in the US. She wants to put together a little video explainer for them on misinformation etc. Does anyone have anything that might help her? Again, this should be aimed at pretty basic knowledge level.

I loved (re)teaming up with the one-and-only Dr. Joel on this review. We crammed in as many 🔥 questions as possible, including: - Can rel. research capture anything OTHER than positivity? - Individual-difference moderation...are we sure? - Do our methods need a major reboot? #PsychSciSky

My lab has been discussing the findings from Babies First Years and cash transfer policies in general. This Vox article does a good job summarizing what is there. An important part for Dev. theory is that the Family Stress model is not holding. www.vox.com/future-perfe...

& that’s that on that.

In grad school in the mid/late 90s there was an exciting battle in relationship science unfolding in journal pages and conference bars: do people want to be *verified* by their partners, or *idealized*? Depended on who you asked--Bill Swann or Sandra Murray. Today, nobody really cares so much. 👇

a REALLY COOL paper showing that mom's stress during HER childhood & during pregnancy have unique signatures on genetic expression markers in the PLACENTA. Biological mechanisms of the intergenerational transmission of stress www.nature.com/articles/s41... #academicbluesky
