Today, as America arrives at inauguration day and MLK day all at once, I thought some of you might be up for a “sacred distraction”. This piece, written on last year’s MLK Day invites you to reflect on being human through the lens of small joys and the three dimensions of a complete life.

Why does Christmas in American start right after Thanksgiving? Back in Germany we got a Christmas tree on Christmas Eve and then had it with us all the way to epiphany. We decorated it lightly, with white paper stars and real candles.

Every morning I wake up early in the dawn. Is it still true? my anxious mind asked my trembling heart like waking up from a fever dream. Yes my dear, it is, my heart says calmly, but we will be ok. Will we?

I know I know, this is not a popular opinion but I still think Biden could have won with the same numbers than last time. Just like Bush or Obama won their second terms. From behind. He then could have resigned a year later and we would have had Kamala Harris as president.

I would prefer a network where people would show up with their real names.
