“Hope, like evil, has to be cultivated.” - @theferocity.bsky.social on today’s episode of Vibe Check A reminder I’ll be meditating on today. If they’re going to keep cultivating evil, we must continue cultivating hope.

The children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe; and I am beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognizing this may be incapable of morality. —James Baldwin

25% of kids in the US are Latinx, so here’s your Latinx KidLit starter pack and make sure to read, boost, and support Latinx stories all year long! go.bsky.app/CGXLiaz

I just watched a video of people dancing to the halftime show on a cruise ship, screaming “A MINOOOORRRRRRRRR” at the tops of their lungs, and one of the comments said, “Damn! Even at sea???” 😭😭😭😭

This is one of the best speeches ever given by Democrat Jasmine Crockett.🔥 “Some of all have been saying: Where are the Democrats? Where are the leaders? I'm here to tell you we ain't never left.” Speech is broken into three parts due to video restrictions on this platform. Please share. 1/3

Apple Podcasts told me to tell y’all that they said they love #VibeCheck and y’all better love us too. They even flew me to LA to do a cute photoshoot with @samsanders.bsky.social and @zachstafford.bsky.social.

My first review for SAL and it’s a Kirkus star!!! 🥳 “…Proudman’s debut novel is an homage to folk hero stories told through a feminist lens. The work, which is rooted in ecological justice, effectively critiques colonialism and jingoistic nationalism. A heartfelt, swashbuckling, standout novel.”

If you don’t have an inner Karen to tap into for resistance purposes, an inner Uncle Colm from Derry Girls will do just fine

Too many of y’all’s teachers let you think you fooled them into believing you read the book and it shows.

I get it, but let's not rename the gesture, which only gives more people cover to use it. This is a Nazi salute, or, if you prefer, a Hitlergruß.

Fuck it. Trans folks need MATERIAL SUPPORT. @distributeaid.org is launching an HRT Harm Reduction Toolkit that provides 1 year of medical supplies needed to take injection-based HRT. We were planning to go live in January, but I'm not waiting. Fund the kits here: distributeaid.org/hrt-harm-red...

Hi! I’ve hosted 3 seasons of Ben & Jerry’s podcast Into The Mix, and I never thought a brand would pay me (well!) to do the work we do and confront the issues we address. This last season was really special. AND if you ever tour the Ben & Jerry’s factory, I’m the voice that leads you into it 🥰🍦

Do I have any bookseller friends out there interested in a SALVACIÓN ARC?!?!

Some people might need these this week.

Like so many of you, my friend @maggiesmithpoet.bsky.social and I have been having a conversation about this country’s future. Now we’re turning our dialogue into a book featuring poems and essays from Marlon James, Alexander Chee, Ashley C. Ford, Chase Strangio, Imani Perry and more!

the most impactful thing I’ve heard about propaganda in the last six weeks is that its primary purpose is not to persuade you, but to bombard and clog your mind to such an extent that you can think of little else. making a point to periodically remind myself of that in the coming days.

You HAVE to keep this in mind. It always helps to remember that my way is not the only useful way.

I fear I’m going to hear the sound they used for drinking 🩸 in nosferatu in my mind until the end of my days

I just climbed into bed and it isn’t even 8pm yet, so this year is truly off to an incredible start.

every time I see anything from the Mufasa press tour, this is all I can think about

I’ve been holding a tiny grudge against Post Malone since 2018 because he delayed Beyoncé’s Coachella performance the first weekend, but I guess if she can forgive him, so can I.

Just cried so hard over the end of The Lord of the Rings that you’d think *I* carried the ring to Mordor AND fought at the Black Gate for Frodo AND destroyed the Witch King of Angmar. so yeah, the Wicked press tour makes complete sense to me, actually.

one of my best friends is moving in next door to me in the new year and hey now, hey now, this really is what dreams are made of 🥺

kovu thirst edits being discussed on an official lion king press tour…what a time to be alive

my “did you know aragorn actually broke his toes when he kicked the helmet and his howl is real” is “did you know dustin hoffman’s cameo in the holiday wasn’t planned—he just happened to be near the blockbuster during filming” and I’m grateful for friends who indulge me recounting this each year

if luigi figures out how to recreate this moment then we really might fix this country

kitchen cleaning success rate when I pretend I’m the owner of a cozy little tavern: 97% KCSR when I tell myself to just buck up, be an adult, and get it done with no nonsense: not even 10% in 2025, it’s committing to the bit hours only

everyone spent the last three years calling all the little extras on spotify wrapped cringe and now look what we’ve got.

I’m not fighting with anyone over if their hear me outs are too conventional anymore because in this climate EVERY man *should* have to go through a full peer review panel before receiving clearance, actually.

I wonder if there’s a reason you can make a case for almost everyone in Wicked being a villain 🧐

There’s something cover-shaped in my inbox 🥺🥺🥺

can’t believe I spent my 20s deconstructing/recovering from a cult only for the country to join one in my 30s

this must be how the dinosaurs felt when god said to make them meatier and that one angel misheard and sent a meteor
