"... harming flexibility and admissions and tightening control on local authorities. That isn't about raising standards. It is about government control. It doesn't fix what is broken, it breaks what is working. It doesn't raise standards, it lowers them." - Baroness Meyer #AreYouListeningNow

Happy #StarWarsDay! #MayTheFourth be with you 😀

Reporting for duty. #caturday

“The path we are on may not always be smooth but it will take us to the place we all want.” No, not all of us. We do not all want this. Some of us know you're not listening - #parents of children with disabilities, adults with disabilities and #HomeEducators. #NotInMyName

“Every day may not be good, but there is something good in every day.” Alice Morse Earle It’s not about glossing over the tough stuff. It’s about holding onto the glimmers – even just one, even just for today. 🧡 #kindness #positivity Picture by @anxiety.positive

This is great: youtu.be/6ui1fzt6mU4?...

I am currently in an alternative universe ... or I wish I was!

"In 2023, only 1.4% of home educated children got a school attendance order ... the same year, 10% of state schools were considered to be inadequate or require improvement by Ofsted. Where is the problem in the system? #HomeEducation is, I think, a vital safety valve..." - Lord Frost Definitely!

Nearly 50% of the vote for my ward in the Worcestershire county council election went to @greenparty.org.uk ! @bestforbritain.bsky.social

Fantastic Green result in #Worcestershire #GreenParty

The Worcestershire local election has painted a pretty depressing picture. A bit of a close result in Littletons...! 😮 #UK #Worcester

A big change.

"Home education has long thrived not because of regulation but because of trust. Trust that #parents, not bureaucrats, are best placed to know what the children need. Trust that diversity of thought strengthens society, rather than weakening it." - Lord Wei Absolutely!

There's still time to go out and #vote!

Went for the usual evening walk around the local villages and lanes. Not for the first time, noticing the birdsong is pretty robust this season. #Worcestershire

You can't see him, but somewhere in this tree a Blackcap is singing his little heart out! #birds #birdsong #nature

This is a definite quote of the day: "Advocacy must never be treated as a threat. Children’s rights must never be sacrificed for institutional reputation." - Michael Charles. Many Local Authorities and schools seem to think the opposite of this - if that bill goes thru, things will get worse.

When the doctors say you're wrong and don't know biology, well ... WTG @bma.org.uk, thank you again!

A single 400-year-old ancient oak produces 234,000 litres of oxygen a year while soaking up carbon dioxide, and can support more than 2,000 species of bird, insect, fungus, and lichen. Nature is amazing - we need more of it, not less. Please repost if you agree 🌳

Reform UK challenged to give details on donations after £2m mailshot campaign Liberal Democrats say voters need to know sources of funding for Nigel Farage’s party before local elections www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

The smell of Wisteria on a still, warm evening is so strong, it has a hint of black pepper about it that I've never noticed before.

Loving the alliteration here from Zack Polanski. Reform - Cosplaying for the Cameras when they really stand for the interests of Billionare Backers? 🙅🏻‍♀️❌ versus Greens - a real People-Power Party to tax the super-rich to fix Broken Britain! 🫡✅

Imagine being diagnosed by the BMA as "biologically nonsensical" and "scientifically illiterate" on what is your greatest ever achievement

I keep re-reading this. Like a single moment of calm in a bullshit storm.

Awful. It's just not possible to understand how/why anyone would do this.

Thank goodness we privatised our energy companies in the UK. We NEVER get nationwide power cuts as they are now suffering in Europe. Our privatised energy companies are so well run.👏 Also we are not in the EU! Another guarantee against such a disaster happening in our country.🇬🇧

BREAKING: Downing Street says there will be no extra money for NHS and teacher pay rises, and that any increases beyond the 2.8% already planned will have to come from cuts to existing budgets, setting up potential for strike action

Every single woman has to prove they are a woman now to strangers in the UK. This is what the ruling means. The oppression and regression of women's rights and bodily autonomy. It does nothing fo prevent male violence against women. I can only see it increasing.

Our candidate date for Rainbow Hill & Fort Royal is Clare Wratten. A resident of the area, Clare has spent the last year campaigning and knocking on doors to listen to her neighbours’ concerns and find out how she can support them. Read more here: worcester.greenparty.org.uk/elections/co...

Post-Brexit plan would allow British and European 18 to 30-year-olds to travel and work freely. A small and welcome step in undoing the Brexit damage. Must extend it to all, as well as free movement of goods Rejoin the EU. Better than being enslaved by Trump.

Perfect spring cross country bike today in the Chilterns

“Talk to yourself like someone you love.” Brené Brown It’s easy to forget the basics – kindness, patience, and gentleness with ourselves. Today’s reminder: be kind to you. You matter, too. 🧡 #kindness #positivity Picture by hello.shannon

We had an amazing, warm and sunny, willow-weaving workshop at the Worcester Community Garden today. Attendees created natural willow bird feeders using sustainable British-grown willow. These hanging cones can hold fat balls or nesting materials for garden birds.

So sad.

Single white bluebell doing its best to stand out from the crowd. Never give up your individuality!

If you want to know how serious our decline in the UK, when North Carolina did what the Labour Government and EHRC have done, the then UK Government told LGBT+ people to beware travelling there. (Credit to @kazhawa.bsky.social.) www.voanews.com/amp/uk-issue...

Good luck to Rob and everyone taking part in this year's marathon. 👍👏

Forget this 'vote labour to stop [insert suitable enemy here]' nonsense. Let's organise. Labour is no longer the only, or in fact the most credible, path for the left to organise and win. Join the greens and organise. join.greenparty.org.uk
