I stand with Ukraine Proud to live in a country (the Netherlands) that unconditionally supports Ukraine. Europe needs to re-arm, to support Ukraine and defend itself and democracy. Ukraine is the one defending Europe from Russian aggression. Ukraine should be part of the EU. Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦

It surely must be so For this is a democracy And what we all say goes

computer scientists: we have invented a virtual dumbass who is constantly wrong tech CEOs: let's add it to every product

Oh, I just realised that Microsoft planned to start offering Windows Arm GitHub runners to everyone “by the end of the year”. Didn’t mention which year though. web.archive.org/web/20241217...

As the year comes to a close, here’s a reminder that this is the most important movie in human history.

This has completely slipped my attention, but the trial between Arm and Qualcomm has ended in Arm’s defeat. I’m not a lawyer but the way I understand it, Arm’s claims are absurd: www.tantraanalyst.com/ta/qualcomm-... I wonder if the industry will start moving towards RISC-V in the coming years.

A bit of wicked wisdom: if you need to do an in-place upgrade to a different Windows edition, you really don’t have to edit the registry and all. Windows Setup has a set of command line arguments, and you can specify a WIM index and/or a (generic) product key. learn.microsoft.com/en-us/window...

And this, folks, is why having an ARM64 ISO is absolutely crucial. Only the in-place upgrade has helped to upgrade my new, shiny, right-out-of-store Surface Pro 11 from Home to Pro. The funny thing is that I know these things way too well. Cause after almost 2 decades, problems are still the same.

Nope. Third time’s not the charm. Now I can’t upgrade to Pro for whatever reason. God I hate Windows. Never again.

By the way, Macrium Reflect now also has an ARM version 🎉 www.macrium.com/blog/whats-n... Though it’s subscription based now, and the Free version is no more, so I don’t know how important this news is.

Surface Pro 11. Just from the store. Dism Cleanup-Image fails. Recovery from USB. Recovery fails. Recreate recovery USB. Recovery from USB. Microsoft Account sign in fails. Recovery from USB. ??? Hopefully third time’s a charm 🤞 But I’ll stick to a MacBook, thanks.

The Universe doesn’t want me to use Windows devices 🤦‍♂️

This is the result of *years* of work of a team of talented enthusiasts who kept pushing forward no matter the complexity of the issues they’ve faced. Congrats and a HUGE thank you to everyone involved!! 🎉

Say hi to the first ever Git for Windows version that adds native support for Windows/ARM64! github.com/git-for-wind...

Oh, and in case you didn’t realise it was a big deal — Eclipse in-development builds now include Windows on ARM support too: www.eclipse.org/downloads/pa...

BTW maybe it’s already known, but the latest build of Temurin JDK 21 supports Windows on ARM 🎉 adoptium.net/en-GB/temuri...

Did you hear the news? > This update introduces support for new processors on Windows like the Snapdragon X Elite, so you don't need to twist your ARM into emulating x86 anymore. github.com/signalapp/Si...

I just took a more thorough look at this book’s cover… 😬 Yep, that checks out.

I want all the company accounts here, esp. the tech companies. Tech companies/brands with accounts on here, let's do a roll call. Reply or quote for discovery 🔥 @devolutions.net @unoplatform.bsky.social @avaloniaui.bsky.social @vuejs.org @linuxfoundation.org @dotnetfoundation.bsky.social

ARM64 Windows ISOs now available! Just remember your board support package, or at least read all of the one page of docs. :) learn.microsoft.com/en-us/window...

Work-around for long-term issue in Cygwin's fork() running on Arm64 resolved. Really appreciate the energy and collaboration with the @msys2org.bsky.social folks!
