Imagine DOGE opens your mail and finds your household electric bill. To eliminate this cost, they burn your house down without warning. Then they total up the bills that, as a homeless person, you will never again pay. On its website, DOGE boasts about the money it has saved you.

this is amaaaaazing

old Soviet joke for our times: Guy stops by the newsstand every day, scans the front page, doesn’t buy the paper. One day the vendor asks what he’s up to. Guy says: “looking for an obituary.” Vendor says “those are towards the back of the paper, comrade.” Guy says: “not the one I’m looking for.”

holy shit

This is Marco Rubio explaining how the USA promised to defend Ukraine forever if they got rid of their nuclear arsenal left after the Soviet Union fell. This is why lil marco was sinking into the couch. He was hoping we wouldn’t find it…so don’t RT right now this very second.

Richest guy in the world telling us we can’t afford to have our government fund cancer research.

👀Action alert! Tomorrow at 1:30 pm, leave your state senator a message to oppose Hammer's unconstitutinal bills SB209 & SB210. Simply ask to give your Senator, (know their name) a message by calling 501-682-2902. These infringe and abridge our constitutional right to make our own laws. #arpx #arleg

Some important to-dos, friends

Iowa legislators, teachers, and librarians -- reach out if there's any way this Iowa boy can help fight this "parfait of awful." www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/...

Imagine being rich enough to do anything you want and choosing to take food and medicine from starving children to give yourself even more money.

I promise you, 75% of my job as a librarian is just knowing how to ask the right questions for other people. If you don’t know what you don’t know, you can’t get to what you need.

Lol this sign "Do not bring food into the library Food residue will attract mice Mice will acquire knowledge in the library Get into university Then replace you" 😂

Yup

Kinda weird that SecDef is announcing to the world that he has tax problems. Totally normal to blame Biden for your failure to pay taxes

The VP of the US responding to a journalist. What a great role model for our kids.

🤓 53 and 26 is very icky, also 😖

I feel like I'm going insane every time I see a media story about DOGE that doesn't also mention the fact that the Government Accountability Office exists and performs the exact function that DOGE pretends to, only in a credibly constitutional, non-partisan, and conflict-of-interest-free manner

💁‍♀️

the single most un-american and anti-constitutional statement ever uttered by an american president

I got a pre-med degree but couldn’t stomach working in the industry so didn’t go into debt for it. Am on the fence about whether or not I regret that decision almost every day.

This fake Catholic wants to talk down to the Pope for speaking of the values of Christ in protecting immigrants. He doesn't actually follow the faith, he just wants to use it as an excuse for his white supremacy and cruelty. The American strain of conservative Catholicism is a cancer on the faith.

Individualism—especially the desperate, toxic individualism of American culture—is isolation and struggle. It is poverty and vast wealth inequality. It is a life siloed and scraping. A lonely death. As the systems fail us one by one, collectivism is our only hope for survival.

Don’t look away. Do something.

Scoop: DOGE's Edward "Big Balls" Coristine launched a privacy-focused image-sharing site in 2021 that allowed users to create custom URLs. The URLs that redirected to Coristine's site referenced the sale of child sexual abuse material, racial slurs, and rape www.muskwatch.com/p/doge-teen-...

Slowly digging out of a long weekend with the younger kid. In person, system meeting at 10, but past Becky took care of today's blog post last week: Using Awards Lists As a RA Tool: Libby Book Awards Edition raforall.blogspot.com/2025/02/usin...

SB181 seeks to remove educational requirements for library directors in Arkansas. This would allow for the installation of political agents in library management positions and politicize our libraries. We deserve better. www.arrighttoread.org/contact_reps...

the fucking enforcement arm of the federal government is launching a war on integration an effort to push tens of millions of americans to the bottom of an arbitrary hierarchy of value and yeah, it pisses me off to see nominal allies say “oh yeah maybe they have a point”

Reviews already help you understand the content and maturity level. This isn’t necessary for anyone even remotely interested in seeing what a book is about and who it’s “appropriate” for (man I hate that word). It’s capitulation and I very much oppose it.

I need Americans to hate this administration the way Kendrick hates Drake so they can actually stand a chance of surviving

if I understand American politics correctly, progressivism is something that requires 60 senate votes to work, while national conservatism doesn’t require any votes at all

A whole bunch of people who were totally cool with posting the addresses of NIH/CDC employees during COVID are now absolutely apoplectic that people would publish the mere names of people forcing their way into government agencies and accessing sensitive data. Weird, huh?

I’m basically Jennifer Lawrence in Don’t Look Up now. :(

Everything you need to know about self-managed abortion is here: wetestify.org/self-managed... The most critical part is simple: don’t talk to cops, you don’t need to tell medical providers what you took, just tell them you’re having a miscarriage. Also, don’t fucking snitch.

Warren: "He can stand there, smile at you and say, 'anybody can vaccinate their kids who wants to,' but he literally could bankrupt the vaccines manufacturers with the power he will have. And since he's got a financial incentive to do that, we cannot trust him in that job."

remember stuff like this when they tell you that diversity means a lowering of standards

Updated list of companies committed to DEI Costco, Meijer, Kroger, Giant Grocery, Ben & Jerry’s, Ulta, Macy’s, Old Navy, Nordstrom’s, TJ Maxx, GoTo Foods (includes Moe’s Southwest Grill, Mcalister’s, Auntie Anne’s, Jamba, Cinnabon, and more…), Dollar Tree, Walgreens, Wegmans

So how’s it going so far?

Political Scientist here. Wanted to correct something I saw on the news. Executive orders by the Preaident are NOT LAWS & don't apply to private companies like Costco or Target, but apply to the EXECUTIVE BRANCH of government of which POTUS is the boss. They're only good until his last day as POTUS.

This book has been the YA hill I would die on since it came out. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve recommended it. THIS IS SO COOL

If you made this argument back in the day you were smugly dismissed as an economically illiterate lefty. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...
