Thank you so much, @lymenews.bsky.social, for raising awareness about the threat that alpha-gal syndrome poses to farmers and ranchers. www.lymedisease.org/tick-borne-a...

Did you know that bioprosthetic heart valves can prematurely degenerate in people with AGS? Don't take it from me, listen to renown heart surgeon, Dr. Joseph W. Turek, MD, PhD, MBA. Alpha-gal syndrome: it's #MoreThanFoodAllergy. youtu.be/Wua_bKVmSZk

Research ties bites from 2 more types of #ticks to red meat allergy In the United States, alpha-gal syndrome is usually linked to bites from the lone star tick, but these cases were caused by black-legged and western black-legged ticks. www.cidrap.umn.edu/t... Photo: CDC

PLS TAKE ACTION! Please urge your member of the House of Representatives to cosponsor the Alpha-gal Allergen Inclusion Act! If passed, alpha-gal will be listed on most packaged foods sold in the United States, just like peanuts, soy, eggs, etc. secure.everyaction.com/mOO1D7F_FUG4...

Good news for ARS Pharma on their FDA approval of neffy® 1 mg (epinephrine nasal spray) for treatment of children (ages 4+, 33–66 lbs) living with serious allergies. This treatment option is expected to be available by late May, just in time for back-to-school epi-renewal season.

PSA for anyone up late: please take precautions to avoid tick bites. I just had another scary alpha gal allergic reaction. The trigger was an accidental bite of bacon (mammal product) ten hours ago. 😰 More info: alphagalinformation.org

The superstition is that itchy palms means $$$ is coming your way. One can only hope--we need the extra cash to pay for our epinephrine!

One of the frustrating parts of having (and treating) #AGS is the broad range of potential triggers for anaphylaxis, and the changing nature of those reactions over time.

"Experts now recognize that in addition to being a food allergy, alpha-gal syndrome 'is a major drug allergy,' says Sharon Forsyth, a founder of the nonprofit Alpha-gal Alliance and an AGS patient." wapo.st/4jke0S5
