Fascinated and humbled by #biodiversity. I understand it using #eDNA as CEO at SimplexDNA. Views and typos are my own. She/her(s).

#AquaEcOmics 2025 here we go! #Evian #eDNA #metabrcoding #metagenomics #CitizenScience

#eDNA job alert!!

Well a new adventure is about to start! This week was my first as fulltime CEO at SimplexDNA. I am excited to have made the jump from academia to empower the use of #eDNA technology throughout the world. While lots of papers will come out from my ETH years, I say goodbye to the 'Professor' title

Job announcement at SimplexDNA --> www.simplexdna.com/team/you-cou...

How, what, and where of environmental DNA #eDNA πŸ€” Happy to share our newest publication exploring how volume of water processed and the pore size of the filter impacts the diversity of plant and animal communities captured via metabarcoding. (1/8) onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...

Get your #airDNA #airborne #eDNA 3D printed sampler here! Made by the amazing @erinhahn.bsky.social (who can tell you lots about the #ecology of airborne eDNA)

πŸ’― fab work @marinednadude.bsky.social + team on minimim reporting for #metabarcoding. At Natural England, we’re building on this to create a readiness framework for #metabarcoding assays, and mobilising DNA data with partners. All key to ⬆️ useability + reliability of DNA data! πŸ’ͺ🏻 🧬 stay tuned πŸ‘€

If you are a scientist (including graduate students) or professional science communicator who is at least 18 years old and are using Bluesky for any kind of professional purposes, please consider taking our survey. Link: umiami.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_... Please help share. πŸ§ͺ🌎 #SciComm

Excited to announce the preliminary program for the upcoming AquaEcOmics symposium. Registration closes on the 31th of January so it is not yet too late to secure your attendance. https://aquaecomics.symposium.inrae.fr/ #aquaecomics2025 #eDNA #omics […] [Original post on mastodon.social]

If you have ever been frustrated trying to find experimental or bioinformatic information for metabarcoding data, we propose a minimum set of information that should be included for all #eDNA publications: mbmg.pensoft.net/article/1286...

🚨new paper alert! 🚨 Inter-laboratory #RingTest for #eDNA extraction protocols: implications for #cetacean and #shark detection using three novel #qPCR assays doi.org/10.3897/mbmg... via @mbmg.pensoft.net @ewhale-dna.bsky.social

The first pre-print from Jake Jackman's PhD on #eDNA monitoring of the River Mersey, UK. We compare multiple filter types across a saline gradient (marine to freshwater) in a strongly tidal estuary. All filters generally work well, including the passive metaprobe! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

I can't hold it in any longer..the data is rolling in from the #LeDNA project and damn it is crazy good. This is the most diverse COI dataset I have ever seen! Over 72'000 ESVs from 382 lakes...the diversity is blowing my mind. And the AVITI sequencer is the new kid on the block ladies and gentlemen

This is an exciting hack!! Thank you for open sourceing this one!

We are recruiting for #PhD opportunity funded by NERC RedAlert CDT investigating novel ways to identify #salmonid diseases in #freshwater ecosystems using #eDNA - closing date 7th Jan, full details here: findaphd.com?pj=176410 @thefsbi.bsky.social @sosbangor.bsky.social @nerc-eof.bsky.social

Scientists, academics, researchers: We’re excited to share that @altmetric.com is now tracking mentions of your research on Bluesky! πŸ§ͺ

I'm recruiting! I'm looking for a motivated postdoctoral scientist to join my new team at SCELSE in Singapore. The role will explore various aspects of how #eDNA is produced and utilised in #Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms. #Microsky #phagesky #Science ntu.wd3.myworkdayjobs.com/Careers/job/...

Back on X, @solidevidence.bsky.social posted a great thread about his informal surveys of species in a team and I asked this (checking if this place is more responsive: Hey, #ecosky, has the #eDNA revolution been adequately appreciated by the wider world?

Stray #eDNA is all around us! www.sciencenews.org/article/edna...

Well that about sums it up! Next year is the impact phase, so if you are keen to use this tech reach out to me!

Any other #eDNA folks going to AquaEcOmics in March? Who am I having beers with? 😁

Are you curious how #eDNA is degraded by photochemistry in the environment? I teamed up with Environmental Chemist's @krismcneill.bsky.social and Eliane Ballmer to see if we could map out what is known and how to move forward --> pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/...

I started an #eDNA starter pack as one didn’t exist yet. Feel free to message me to get your name added. Open to all! go.bsky.app/U2vgV5Q

Shipments of sampling kits going out to over 80 counties for our global collaboration to sample the world Biodiversity in lakes using #eDNA so excited what this will change in what we know about eDNA and biodiversity πŸŽ‰πŸŒΏπŸŒπŸ¦Ž

Net of Life concept I am convinced of the more I understand #eDNA. There is just no way that all the eDNA can be floating around and no life taking it up and trying to do things with it. Antibiotic resistant genes e.g. Check out this thought provoking piece www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

On International day of #Biodiversity -> May 22, hundreds of people will join forces to sample the world's biodiversity from the lens of #eDNA. Together we'll make a dataset like no other about the state of life on 🌍 Listen more on about it on #ScienceFriday www.sciencefriday.com/segments/cit...

Our exciting journey in the XPRIZE Rainforest competition, developing rapid #eDNA #biodiversity survey methods with drones and backpack labs is about as much fun as you can have if you're a nerd! Here is a fun podcast sharing our work and testing we've been doing: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/d...

Excited to start my feed! A mix of biodiversity monitoring, science stuff, #eDNA of all things and of course dripping with the #ReFi movement and the constant reminder to be present.
