I hate to say it, but I'm feeling very underwhelmed by the new Monster Manual for 5.5e. While the PHB felt like a step forward, and the DMG a nice refresher, the 2024 MM is the only book where I truly feel like the 2014 version is just...better? How are others feeling about it though? #dnd #ttrpg

Continuing my read through the 5.5e Monster Manual I remain frustrated by the alphabetical ordering. The MM used to be a joy of inspiration filled sections. And now it feels disconnected and sterile. Indexes exist for alphabetically look ups, don't agree making the whole book it.

I think a lot of DM's, especially new DMs, and maybe some players don't realize that a meaningful percentage of your average session is, and should be, the players playing off EACH OTHER. They roleplay. They generate their own content and the DM can just watch and listen.
