#ICYMI: We've added 23 staffers to our DOGE tracker, taking the total to 109. We also revealed the makeup of the DOGE team at the Defense Department, a group made up primarily of tech startup founders.

In blow to RFK Jr.'s anti-diversity crusade, judge voids NIH directives A Ronald Reagan-appointed judge called the NIH directives the worst racial bias he's seen in 40 years, asking: "Have we no shame?" www.allrisenews.com/p/rfk-racial...

The Minnesota shooter apparently used data broker websites to find the home addresses of the people he shot and murdered. Congress has had years to do something about data brokers and they've sided with the tech lobby over and over again. Their inaction is deadly.

📢BREAKING: Just left the courthouse for our NIH grant termination case Judge ruled terminations are “VOID & ILLEGAL” As a plaintiff, I felt a wave of relief & hope; he acknowledged the discrimination & harm Closed by asking, ‘Have we fallen so low? Have we no shame?’

I wanted to provide a thread here of some of the things I've been involved with in the fight against unethical generative AI for easy reference, starting with my work with @GaryMarcus.bsky.social. Our article shows irrefutable evidence of blatant plagiarism 🧵 spectrum.ieee.org/midjourney-c...

“Historically, no one lived past age 35” "I’ve heard *so* many versions of this claim, including recently from a menopause doctor (implying menopause is not “natural” because noone lived long enough to go through it). Every time someone states this “fact,” a demographer loses a piece of their soul"

Apple's latest paper on the collapse of "reasoning" models raises questions, first of which is: what are people using these flawed models to do, exactly? One thing, perhaps, is to float ideas without worrying about the sting of rejection. mail.cyberneticforests.com/complete-acc...

This is the same flawed logic that suggests Muslims are responsible for the government of Iran or Jews are responsible for Bibi. If it’s a wretched stereotype in one context, it’s wretched in the others. Even if Mike Lee is Birch Society-ass troll.

They should invent a phd where you don’t have to move to a different state/city and not have a stable income for 5-7 years

“When they finally found his ID confirming his citizenship, the agents let him go — without offering any explanation or apology. Lemus also asked them for their names and badge numbers and they refused.”

LAPD and LA Sheriffs tried to prevent two large protests from joining together in downtown and both departments ended up hitting EACH OTHER with impact munitions from across the same interesection.

I just like to post these data from time to time to puncture the mythological aura of mid 20th c protests. They were less popular than pretty much any 21st c mass action & people criticizing them used the same lines. Protest is about people coming together, shaping narratives, & building power.

Come back from a business trip to find my car, which was parked in long-term airport parking, to be so completely out of gas it died three times in 10 yards. Friends, I swear to you I filled it up on the way to the airport. … I … just … gah!

Once again, it seems to me that when a court finds the president is doing something wildly unconstitutional, it is dangerous and unhealthy that we default to “but let him keep doing it until multiple layers of review all agree.”
