Kinda hard to see a free and fair 2028 election where she doesn’t win by a lot.

Umm..

AOC: We must acknowledge the terrifying moment we are in right now. What we are hearing and seeing with our own eyes is, in fact, happening. We are watching our neighbors, students, and friends being fired, targeted, and disappeared. It is real.

As I’ve said, yes, this was their aim all along. That’s why they didn’t just send these people to Gitmo. This is an attempt to find a step beyond Gitmo where the court says, “Well, our hands are tied.” It’s an awful, lawless gambit that must fail, but that is what they want it to be.

(Also a fantastic cat, but his pot belly and general up-tightness do not lend themselves to mid-air-tossing or shoulder-shawl slinging)

Her brother, on the other hand....

This is the same cat that trusts me enough to let me toss her in the air. A truly fantastic feline.

She allowed me to carry her up the stairs slung over my shoulders with perfectly limp paws, while purring.

Happy to report that my current project of training one of our cats to be worn over the shoulders like a shawl is going well.

i do not think the mainstream press is equipped or capable of covering ideological white nationalists and eugenicists as such, or even capable of noting that this is what they are. it is related to the wide belief that racism is simply a matter of manners.

Great news, everyone. A surveillance company started by Peter Thiel is part of the hackathon playing with our data at IRS. www.wired.com/story/palant...

Before folks overreact to headlines about the judge’s ruling in the Khalil case, please note that (1) it was an immigration judge (IJ), not a federal district court; and (2) the IJ had no power to consider Khalil’s constitutional objections. This particular decision was a fait accompli.

my favorite amy klobuchar story from my youth: back when she was the hennepin county attorney, my bff’s mom was the ramsey county attorney they both agreed to run a charity 5k. BFF and I were like 3/4 of the way through the course, and saw Klob get dropped off and pretend she ran the whole thing

That makes 11 states refusing to comply with the attack on diversity, equity and inclusion. 16 plus Puerto Rico have folded. Here's language to push your state and local education leaders to stand up and fight back.

We’re fighting antisemitism on college campuses. That’s why we pulled Holocaust history from the library of the Naval Academy but left two copies of Mein Kampf.

Bracketing the issue of willingness to comply. President Trump has hereby admitted he has the capacity to bring Abrego Garcia back from El Salvador. That's the ballgame in current litigation. I assume plaintiffs will cite this statement to Judge Xinis.

I’m not kidding; this is DOGE at work; multiple US citizens getting notices that they just leave the country because USCIS is revoking their humanitarian parole. www.politico.com/news/2025/04...

Exclusive: Military contractors are pitching the White House on an unprecedented prison plan for detained immigrants. Former Blackwater CEO Erik Prince wants to cut a deal to skirt immigration laws and transport detainees from the U.S. to El Salvador.

I was told these people were “free speech absolutists”

News: Diana Greene Foster, the MacArthur-winning author of the Turnaway Study, learned her NIH grant — funding a multi-year study on Dobbs' impact — has been pulled. She was told its bc the govt won't study "gender identity." Her work has shaped our understanding of abortion bans' consequences.

Availability is the issue. I've been told that Massachusetts, western MA in particular, its not a great place for doctors to make money and that people educated here go to elsewhere to work. But it's not particularly great in the Boston area, either.

Furious!

The one thing I do miss about living in New York is access to incredible healthcare. Western mass is a damned mess.

Today I learned that if you go to the doctor for an annual physical and they ask about your health and you mention any health issue, they can bill you for a second visit on top of your annual for which there should be zero co-pays.

BREAKING: An immigration court determined our client Mahmoud Khalil to be removable from the U.S. based solely on his political speech. The fight isn't over — we'll keep fighting for Mahmoud's freedom and all of our First Amendment rights in federal court.

Horrendous. We are in serious trouble.

🚨BREAKING: Four more Big Law firms join the ranks of Trump collaborators. A&O Shearman, Kirkland & Ellis, Latham & Watkins and Simpson Thacher all capitulated. In a sign of growing inflation, each firm agreed to $125m in Trump approved pro bono. Shameful.

This is, in addition to very obviously denying people benefits and clearly excluding the vast majority of seniors, a violation of federal law on accessibility, especially since X requires users to log in and agree to the terms of service to see published content.

“They’ve been relentlessly dismantling every single civil rights agency in the federal government, and this could be the last one standing.” Garza added that she is “prepared to challenge any attempt to illegally remove me as chairwoman.” www.politico.com/news/2025/04...

weird, what could explain this

Marc Andreessen really, really hates universities, which seems to be a pretty common sensibility from billionaires who have spent too much time online. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/18/o...

“Needless to say, Defendants were under no obligation to take action under the court’s order while it was administratively stayed by the Chief Justice of the United States” is a pretty bold thing to say when the order was in effect for 3+ days before the stay issued

If I were Judge Xinis, I would order the government to produce, in her courtroom, officials who were in a position to answer her questions and to do so under oath. Letting DOJ continue to prevaricate and deflect responsibility in written submissions seems ... insufficient at this point.
