The third edition of The Honest Editor is all about how publishers create book jackets and why they’re so important. Read it here for free: honesteditor.substack.com/p/the-covers-p… 📚🎨✍️ #publishing #books

Magnificent days here in County Kerry 🇮🇪

Tackling my towering TBR pile and very happy to have finally read this beautiful historical novel by the wonderful Amanda Geard - a compelling novel with a mystery woven into three timelines. Amanda Geard is a natural storyteller and I cannot wait for her next book! #historicalfiction

A joy to celebrate the publication of City Girls Forever by my great pal @patriciascanlan.bsky.social along with the lovely Claudia Carroll @fhayesmccoy.bsky.social @mariankeyes.bsky.social and Sinead Moriarty. All of us City Girls tonight!

A big hug to all the Norwegian readers who have been in touch since the 🇳🇴 edition of The Midnight House launched! Don’t forget that Book 3 is set in your gorgeous country and I’ll be revealing much more about that soon 🤩 www.ark.no/produkt/boke...

We are disappointed but not surprised that Meta has used millions of pirated books to develop its AI systems. As a matter of urgency, Meta needs to compensate the rightsholders of all the works it has been exploiting. But what can authors do? Read here: societyofauthors.org/2025/03/21/t...

Heads up, Authors! The Authors Guild have a template letter to tell Meta you do not give permission for them to use your work (including UK authors). actionnetwork.org/letters/auth... @vikkipatis.bsky.social has also created an open letter for UK authors: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F... 1/2

I'm excited to share what I've been working on recently as one of a team of volunteers from the Historical Novel Society. I've set up our 2026 conference website hns2026.com and will update it as needed. Maynooth Campus is a beautiful venue and easily reached from Dublin. Looking forward to it!

We've started a podcast. We invite you to settle in & listen to engaging discussions with authors about their work, inspirations, & the stories behind their books. Whether you missed these talks the first time around or want to relive the experience, give us a listen open.spotify.com/show/62t0eaH...

Quite fitting that on Valentines night in the north of Norway, Mother Nature reminds me of yet another reason I love this place 🇳🇴

Happy Valentine’s from the frozen north 💙

Midnattshuset looking lovely in Norway 🇳🇴 and sitting at #15 in the charts! Also … new sweater (of course!), handmade in Narvik 🥹

Meanwhile, on a deserted beach in the Norwegian Arctic… …an author in need of inspiration wonders if the muse will descend before the frostbite sets in!

The best book post (The Tarot reader lands June 2025, and I’m VERY lucky to get an early read!)

It's lovely to see so many familiar faces over here. 👋 For anyone who doesn't know me, I write dualtime romantic novels with a WW2 theme. I love reading, writing, walking, & travelling to the places where my books are set. I look forward to meeting lots of new reader & writer friends here. 🥰

Three things I always buy in Norway ...

Today is Norwegian publication day for Midnattshuset (The Midnight House)!!

Hurra! The Norwegian edition of The Midnight House lands in two days, which reminds me that my profile pic was taken while I was waiting for the ferry to take me to my Norwegian Arctic cabin last year ... can't wait to find Midnatsshuset in our local Ark/Norli!!

Whoa... #goodreadsyearinbooks

Nothing better than a book for Christmas, except maybe … two books! 🎄📚

Every writer’s dilemma

Big shout out to Eason Killarney for giving this local gal some shelf-edge inches!! Love these guys and their constant support for the authors of The Kingdom 💙

Thank you @viperbooks.bsky.social for a fabulous evening celebrating their combined 5th birthday and #ViperShowcase2025 - great authors, beautiful books, and a chance to catch-up with some blogger pals made it a lovely night! Here's to many more birthdays, Viper! 🥂💙📚 @mirandajewess.bsky.social

If you're looking for phenomenal debut, THE LOTUS SHOES is available to request on NetGalley before it publishes January. For anyone who loved GIRL WITH A PEARL EARRING or MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA, and featuring two women who want more than 1800s China offers them... www.netgalley.co.uk/catalog/book...

Editing sometimes feels like renovating ✍️ keeping the soul of the story & adding new life. A decade ago we embarked on reno in Kerry 🇮🇪, the very place that inspired Blackwater Hall in The Midnight House. This is the blue room, which has looked east for 200 years.

The Discoveries writing development programme and prize for unpublished women writers in the UK accepts novels in any genre of adult fiction, with entrants invited to submit the first 10,000 words of their novel and a synopsis

I'm thinking about christening the first page of a new notebook today*. Thoughts and prayers appreciated. *probably I'll chicken out and put it aside 'for best'
