*Chef’s kiss* 10/10 no notes.

Is there any other career where the concept of leaving for a trip is as stress inducing? It doubles your workload to ensure students remain supported and actively learning in your absence. ...Triples your workload if you're traveling *to do more work* which is usually the case. #EduSky #HigherEd

Just staged the reformatory scene of this show. We created a full game with a complete set of rules the boys require each other to follow as they play for coins. The resulting choreography is just.. I think I might’ve ruined this scene for myself forever now. #TheatreSky #IntimacyChoreography

"Regardless of style and tactics, everyone in the American scientific community must hold to the principles of independence, peer evaluation, and inclusion. These have enabled the country’s success in science & technology for at least a century. We will not turn our backs on them now." #AcademicSky

We invite individual visual and performing #artists, #writers, #bookstores, book clubs, brave non-profit or government organizations and other individuals or groups across the USA to independently "flood the zone" with #creativity, Saturday, April 19, 2025. abbetuck.com/createtolibe...

Debating creating an account for the Journal of Consent-Based Performance; are journal profiles useful, Bsky? We have/continue to publish issues focused on identity, accessibility, intimacy, and consent in performance practice & theory. #TheatreSky #AcademicSky journals.calstate.edu/jcbp/issue/a...

Theaters around the country have an opportunity to do a really great play.... Get Jessica Hecht on a tour.

If you're a white dude with some flexibility in your life, get a group of your like-minded bros together & go to these events to act as counterbalance to these "private security forces." Get in their way. Occupy space. Ask for their IDs. Outnumber them. Make their fascism difficult.

For folks who are watching the video of the woman in Kootenai County, Idaho being dragged out of the townhall by (literal) brownshirts, and are (understandably) distressed and wondering, “What can we do if we see this happening?”: May I introduce you to the tactic of de-arresting?

Kristi Noem told attendees at a CPAC dinner Friday that Trump directed her to launch a taxpayer-funded ad campaign and demanded she thank him in the ads. No other outlet bothered to write about this, despite the admin blowing up to $200M on these ads www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

Thanks to the #ATHE25 directors, theatre artists, and educators who joined us at day one of the Directing FG Spring Symposium today! It’s always a welcome distraction from the chaos of the world to share space with thinkers and artists focusing on inquiry and action for a few hours! #TheatreSky

This year’s ATHE Directing Symposium focuses on translating creative processes & projects into research & writing. @clarakallday.bsky.social and I are excited to partner w/SDC in this working group, guiding theatre artists in engaging PAR methodologies on the way to publication! #TheatreSky #ATHE25

Dear artist-colleagues: the EO against DEI has been blocked, for now. That means the NEA cannot enforce Trump’s edict. Of course, the chilling effect is happening. Do Not Censor yourself. Institutions and artists who act from the moral center (& aesthetic necessity) of equity and inclusion apply!

You have until February 26th to download and convert your Kindle books—after that, you’ll be stuck within the Kindle ecosystem! This is more than just a #consumerrights problem; it is an #accessibility problem and an issue of democracy and #censorship!

The Association of Theatre in Higher Ed spring symposium starts tomorrow. I’ll see you bright and early, fellow ATHE directors, educators, and theatre artists! #ATHE25 #Directing #TheatreSky #HigherEd

The title I wanted to feel “approachable,” after publisher input, feels like an Amazon listing. How’s my counter suggestion? “creativity cognitive development consent pedagogy for performance teachers theatre teaching artists TYA directors OSFAValentine’s Christmas gift” #HigherEd #TheatreSky

Oof.

this is such a great idea 👇👇👇

This piece and the issue broadly feels especially pertinent right now with all this #TheatreSky

After so many runs of this show, I’ve never done that scene the same way twice. I’m always so grateful to work with actors who support each other, and I’m always eager to see what movement vocabularies we create together as we shape the storytelling. #TheatreSky

@warren.senate.gov: "Elon is gonna do X Money... There's just one bump in the way and that's the CFPB... He doesn't like that... Move the bump out of the way before you start. It's like a bank robber saying, 'Before I go into the lobby with my sacks, I'm just going to fire the cops.'"

Kudos to the #pittsburghartscouncil for maintaining a running list of the Trump regime's art attack. MAGA hates creativity and the arts. Abbetuck invites individual artists of all disciplines to follow and join our community. Link in bio. www.pittsburghartscouncil.org/blog/trumps-...

Again, Trump fired SBA Inspector General Mike Ware after he found $200 billion in fraud in Trump's COVID programs and returned $40B to the US Treasury. Instead, Trump brought in a bunch of fascist boys who know nothing about accounting. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Common knowledge to common criminals methinks!

Yes Donna! Celebrate your crew! #SNL50

Marcelo Hernandez and Pedro Pascal teamups are an instant win every time. #SNL50

Rewatching #TheDragonPrince over the past month, I was again brought to tears multiple times. If you’ve missed this, it’s excellent inclusive storytelling, detailed world building, & clearly anti-fascist messaging. It’s exactly the type of media I’d want for my kids if I had any. #ContinueTheSaga

For Valentine’s Day I received the news that this beautiful work will be featured in the Beverly Hills Film Festival and I’m just so stupidly proud of this one! 🧡

There is a lot of talk about blue states resisting, etc. and this educator would humbly suggest that this is not the way forward. I refuse to leave our people in red states behind. The Civil Rights Movement came from the Deep South. Red state progressives are some of the hardest working activists.

the level of anger i'm feeling as a deep lover of musical theatre and in general, musical theater for kids that focuses on joy, love, and acceptance - is PALPABLE.

See here's how to do a headline. fortune.com/2025/02/13/e...

So #HigherEd #TheatreSky folks, it’s time to chat about #KCACTF. What are we doing instead this year? Where are we relocating to? Or how are we seizing the moment to speak up for our students & craft clearly? Clinging to “tradition” would demonstrate support for what is new. We cannot.

The entire Republican Party is just embodiments of this song.

We’re being told not to engage with the whole of humanity in generating work intended to communicate w humans. Art is and has always been inherently political; the work we choose to produce creates & reinforces certain values. If you must, avoid these words, but DO THE WORK ANYWAY. #TheatreSky

If there was any doubt

Students just blew my mind w their theoretically grounded critical analyses of the state of theatre education. I tasked them with discussing secondary; several also cited evidence of a lack of pedagogy at the university teaching level, making a call for change according to NAST guidelines. I just.

There has been a shift in the Trump team's language in their anti-DEI attacks. All of a sudden they started calling it "DEIA", with the A being "accessibility". If you don't think it's a coordinated effort to remove disabled people from every facet of life, well I have news for you.

The big takeaway here is that Reuters won this case against the AI company on grounds they violated fair use—the judge found the AI company was guilty because, in using copyrighted works to generate its output, it “meant to compete... by developing a market substitute.” Huge.
