@paulogia.bsky.social I watched your video on Habermas's "Magnum Opus", but watching him stumble over questions has me confused. In your opinion is he disingenuous or uncritical of his own work? Or did I misunderstand some point?

Like, I'm just reeling at the gall of someone who lived through Reagan's AIDs crisis, Bush II's islamaphobia, and Obama's birtherism conspiracies to suddenly be shocked at the Conservative Evangelical attitudes of 2016+. The call is coming from inside the house. It's what the house is made of.

The SBC was founded specifically to support slavery. Christianity was used as a mace in McCarthy's anti communist paranoia (Acts 2:44, much?). I can even find pro-segregation sermons. Even today topics like "are men and women equal" and "are gays cool" are 'controversial'.

My rage goes back and forth from "What the fuck is wrong with Americans?" to "Fuck them all - they'll get president and the country they deserve." The fact is I will probably be fine no matter what. But I wanted OTHER PEOPLE to be fine.
