Ok. Ngl. Seeing late night teenagers with a hacky sac just made my whole ass day. #Hackysac #nalstagia

Janet Steele motioning to cut the JUSTfood program. “In her motion, Steele said food insecurity is not one of HRM’s mandates, and that funding for such programs can be found from other sources. She pointed to the province’s school lunch program that was launched last” (1/2)

So, to the fascist group outside of Sullivan's pond. Fuck you. Separately. This person was doing his own march at PPP. Just saying.

Just a reminder for @TimHoustonNS and Leah Martin that every single member of the Assembly of Mi‘kmaw Chiefs is opposed to fracking. Every. Single. One. #nspoli

"So Sick of Cops" Seen in Surrey, Canada

Activism is about listening and experimentation. You have to try things, see if they work, and then double down on the stuff that's working. You learn by doing it. There is no "one cool trick to overthrow fascism and bring about utopia." Don't believe anyone who claims to have all the answers.

A few weeks ago, I mentioned that we were working on a pilot anti-criminalization Communiversity here in NYC. I happy to share our call for workshop/course proposals today. Deadline to apply to facilitate/teach is 4/25. Please share with your networks. interruptingcriminalization.com/communiversity

A city’s credit rating isn’t a report card on how well the city is doing; it’s a tool for bond investors that answers the question “How likely is it that the city will default on a debt payment in 24 months?” But defaulting on debt is not the first sign of financial trouble. It’s the last.

For two days, Ontario's counsel argued that the Ford government's new legislation doesn't ban supervised consumption sites — they are free to relocate within the new zoning laws (albeit they have no resources to do so). Sylvia Jones now says this isn't true (!) In The Trillium: t.co/0T0xfwGd6A

"no representatives from HRM or the Nova Scotia Federation of Municipalities came to speak on legislation that will affect them directly" This is embarrassing. The proposed legislation is disastrous. www.halifaxexaminer.ca/dismantling-...

!?!?!?

A yes vote here was a yes vote to cut half of the justFood program, over 600k. Know your councillors and what they stand for

This is the same legal department that argued that HRM couldn’t prevent racism in the workplace because it was protected by “free speech “ (it isn’t).

LEH sigh

Damn, Blackwood. The "voting for city services is voting for affordability" has me lowkey hopeful about tank vote. Not a lot--more like a life raft with a slow leak. But I don’t know much about your policies, so for now, I’m leaning into the bliss of ignorance, drifting toward a mirage of an island.
