Ahead of the EU-Israel association council in Brussels on Monday @evegeddie.bsky.social says, "It is unconscionable that the EU is rolling out the red carpet for minister Sa’ar whose boss, PM Netanyahu, is wanted by the ICC." www.amnesty.org/en/latest/ne...

In early 2025, #Cuba released 171+ arbitrarily detained people. But the release process has been marred by irregularities & a lack of state transparency. No acknowledgement of the existence of individuals detained for political reasons, nor any list of those included in the process.

A new era on LGBTI rights backsliding in Europe. @ilgaeurope.bsky.social #AnnualReview2025 reveals how “LGBTI propaganda” laws threaten human rights and governments are fueling anti-LGBTI sentiment to restrict freedom of expression, association, and fair elections in Europe 🧵

🔈 NEW RESEARCH from @amnesty.org The US government’s abrupt, sweeping freeze on foreign aid severely imperils the #humanrights of #refugees, civilians in armed conflict areas & individuals fleeing persecution in #Myanmar. @eumyanmar.bsky.social @sabatuccieu.bsky.social @eudiplomacy.bsky.social

Today, the European Court of Human Rights will hear three cases against Latvia, Lithuania and Poland concerning alleged unlawful pushbacks. It's the first time the Court will rule on human rights implications of what the EU and its member states are calling ‘instrumentalized’ migration 🧵

The Greek Ombudsman published a damning report into the actions of the Greek coastguard during the shipwreck in Pylos. @amnesty.org welcomes these crucial findings. Greece must take them into account in their investigations into the incident & finally open disciplinary investigations🧵

The @CIJ_ICJ has been clear: trade and business with Israel's settlements are illegal and must stop. When will the EU comply? @amnesty.org and 162 civil society organizations and trade unions wrote a letter to @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu 👇 #StopTradeWithSettlements www.amnesty.eu/news/israel-...

Re: "The Brief – Never again?" published in @euractiv.com Matthew Karnitschnig makes baseless & racist accusations which stoke anti-Muslim fear & hatred. We cannot support a publication that promotes Islamophobic tropes & fails to learn from its mistakes. www.amnesty.eu/news/mainstr...

Italian authorities released Libyan militia leader Osama Njeem after he was arrested based on a sealed ICC arrest warrant instead of surrendering him to the court. This is a stunning blow to victims, survivors & international justice & a missed opportunity to break the cycle of impunity in Libya 🧵

Malta: El Hiblu case ‘everything wrong with migration policies in the central Mediterranean’ This morning, the Court of Appeal in Valletta found that Malta has jurisdiction over the case 👇 www.amnesty.org/en/latest/pr...

No surprises: the EU's monitoring mechanism in Libya cannot report on or investigate human rights abuses. There is a serious lack of oversight over how EU funds are spent in Libya. Where rights are not respected, the EU must suspend its cooperation - or risk complicity.
