I'm excited to be hosting this workshop at Winslow House in Vallejo on 6/29! Read the description & sign up: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F... & please repost / share I personally think collaborative writing is the perfect antidote to the doom & isolation many of us are trying hard not to feel 💜

Just realized that the reason I didn't get a grant 2 years ago is that I never submitted the application 😂

This is more of a blogpost post but have you ever noticed how much these songs sound the same? www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_0H... and ...

Just reread the review a doctor wrote of Tender Points years ago and am cracking up at the line "Yet for all her truth telling, Berkowitz reaches some questionable conclusions about physicians and the field of medicine"

I recently received the proof copy of my latest poetry book, Itinerant Songs, and it was such an incredible feeling to hold this complete work in my hands after 8 years of slowly chipping away at it. Itinerant Songs is available to preorder here: www.recenterpress.com/store/p15/it...

Hi I really enjoyed writing this (my first substack post) and I hope you'll subscribe / check it out because I plan to enjoy writing more!

Please tell me about your favorite collaboratively written poems!

I don’t get the commotion about the new press that plans to focus on male writers. It’s unsurprising, inevitable, and frankly boring. Men have been doing stuff like this for years. No judgement if you wanna share the article online but may I suggest - we don’t have to give these guys more attention.

Having a very charoset is basically a Luna bar Wednesday how about you

As long as we're talking about passover, we cook the same things almost every year - brisket*, asparagus, mashed potatoes, farfel. I yearn for change but also I love these things. Tell me your suggestions.

I finally did it. I made a version of the four children with Sesame Street characters. Here's a PDF if you want to include it in your haggadah this year! static1.squarespace.com/static/64418...

If your writing, like mine, was used to train Meta’s AI without your consent, you can fill out this form to let them know how you feel about it. I did it, it took less than 5 minutes. actionnetwork.org/letters/auth...

I was at a bookstore today and someone was roaming the aisles while talking very loudly on the phone about how they wanted a haircut but haircuts were too expensive and how their nonbinary friends don't get along with their trans friends. And I wouldn't be telling you this except they were SO LOUD!

Come see me read in Oakland on Saturday afternoon! I’m going to read the art gallery scene from my novel, which I don’t think I’ve ever read before, and I get to read it in an actual art gallery!

There's a huge audience eager for more accessible mass acts of protest (evidenced by the one-day boycott) and I feel like we could be doing more to serve this audience and on-ramp them into getting more involved. 1/

Every time I drive across the bridge I become more and more convinced that fastrak or invoice is a great band name

this is the bay area poetry scene I know and love. it’s only march. putting a shoulder to heaven in a hell world

I can't believe how many people are patting themselves on the back for participating in a fake one-day "boycott" when they could be doing something really USEFUL AND RADICAL like criticizing this boycott on social media without providing any alternative suggestions for taking action!!!

👀

I read that essay about “bad poetry” and I feel like Lester Bangs here but let’s pay attention what we’re losing when we equate “emotional directness” with “cringe.” I really do believe that there are some things you just have to SAY and there is no inherent superiority to “self-aware restraint.”

Aww it's an honor. It felt good to put these complicated feelings into words and I'm glad they're resonating with you and your group.
