I don’t get the commotion about the new press that plans to focus on male writers. It’s unsurprising, inevitable, and frankly boring. Men have been doing stuff like this for years. I was at a bookstore today and someone was roaming the aisles while talking very loudly on the phone about how they wanted a haircut but haircuts were too expensive and how their nonbinary friends don't get along with their trans friends. I can't believe how many people are patting themselves on the back for participating in a fake one-day "boycott" when they could be doing something really USEFUL AND RADICAL like criticizing this boycott on social media without providing any alternative suggestions for taking action!!!

I read that essay about “bad poetry” and I feel like Lester Bangs here but let’s pay attention what we’re losing when we equate “emotional directness” with “cringe.” I really do believe that there are some things you just have to SAY and there is no inherent superiority to “self-aware restraint.”
