It’s actually a moral imperative. If you can run for office, you must. Women only hold 25 percent of the 500,000 elected positions in America. Because we’re not at the table, we’re on the menu. emergeamerica.org

This state is home to 6 million acres of peatlands, more than any other state in the contiguous U.S. Can you guess which state? 🤔 Find out here – and check out TNC's new report that highlights the role of protecting and restoring peatlands as a natural climate solution: nature.ly/4i4oH9W

What's happening now is designed to overwhelm, discourage and disorient us. There are evidence-based practices that can help center us in the eye of the storm so we can be more effective in responding. If you could use one now, here's a series of brief, daily meditations I can't recommend enough:

Good morning, here’s some coffee. #kidlitart

It’s book release day for ME and this picture book beauty! Thanks to @lisaanchin.bsky.social for bringing Pedal Pusher to life in the loveliest way! #writing #kidlit #picturebook

Happy book birthday to Poo Pile on the Prairie! This book was a delight to write and illustrate. Check out all the cutie pies in this latest book from my Tiny Habitats series! #kidslit #kidlit #stem #bison #tinyhabitats @ssedlib.bsky.social

In the best tradition of Copernicus and Galileo, our courageous scientists are enlightening the public about our environment, undaunted by Trump’s attempted suppression. Courage is contagious. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...

This month showcases excellent titles in poetry, including a book illustrated by Caldecott Medalist Doug Salati, as well as several graphic novels, including a new one from Raina Telgemeier.

It may feel weird or somehow improper to talk about your art or your writing, but we need it. It can’t be wall-to-wall nightmare all the time. Art is both counterweight and context. It’s escape and enlightenment and a mirror of our own exasperation. We need it. We NEED it. Keep showing us.

LOVE this #ValentinesDay comic. 😂 #BirdSky

There is a lot going on right now and it’s normal to feel overwhelmed. Just remember the 20-60-10 rule! After 20 minutes of work, take a 60-minute stroll through the forest and hug 10 trees (at least). They need love too!

Good morning from the Oregon Coast, the moonset mixed with the colors of the sunrise this morning were magnificent. 😍🤩🌅🌊🌝 #moonset #sunrise #moon #oregon #oregoncoast #saltyraven

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate Log Life at Queen Anne Book Company last night! The cake was delicious! And the PNBA Book Award is adorable! #kidlit @simonkids.bsky.social @simonandschuster.bsky.social

Good morning! A different, wilder beach today. Here’s your minute of peace and calm. 👊🇺🇸 #OceanDevotion

Happy Superb Owl weekend from these burrowing owls from my upcoming book, Poo Pile on the Prairie. Beetles for breakfast! #SuperbOwl #owl #kidslit #kidlit #tinyhabitats

Did you know most beetles only live a year? For us humans, it's week 6 of 52 of 2025. I’ve been using this framing to help me realize the power and potential of each week—and to not let the week go by with just the same old/same old. 💛🪲

Happy #kidlitartpostcard day! I'm Liz, an author and illustrator who loves to illustrate picture book biographies and quirky animal books! This is part of a spread from A Mind of Her Own: The Story of Mystery Writer Agatha Christie, written by Robyn McGrath and published by Beach Lane Books.

Stories hold us together. Stories teach us what is important about life, why we are here and how it is best to behave, and that inside us we have access to treasure, in memories and observations, in imagination.

I’m a part time librarian and I just want to echo what I’ve seen other librarians say recently: there is a HUGE uptick in requests for social justice, climate justice, abolition, history, etc books and I just want to say nobody is giving up the fight. If anything people are fighting harder #library

Hey #kidlit, with everything going on in the world I think we could all use a collective reminder. *Why* do you choose to make books for children?

Seattle-area friends, come join me at Queen Anne Book Company on Tuesday, Feb 11 to celebrate the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association award for Log Life! The event is from 6-7pm. Would love to see you! qabookco.com/event/2025-0...

If you have a #KidLit book launching Feb.3-9, reply with book cover (use alt text), title, author & illustrator, publisher, launch date, link where people can find more info. Pls add good karma to universe by helping to boost! It's a tough time to be launching books. #KidLitLaunches #Edusky More 👇

📚The #KidLit event of the year is almost here! Join us for the live announcement of the 2025 ALA Youth Media Awards! 📅 Mon., Jan. 27 🕖 7am PT | 8am MT | 9am CT | 10:00am ET Watch at ala.unikron.com or on the ALA Facebook page. www.facebook.com/AmericanLibr...

Can't promise to keep up with this morning's #YMA announcements at @amlibraryassoc.bsky.social but shall try! Tune in yourself for a front row seat 2025.alaliblearnx.org

It’s #ALAYMA day! Good day to remind you #kidlit writers that, while awards are lovely, they are by definition, limited to just a handful of books. I promise you, whether your book is “big” with awards or not, it is someone’s very special treasure — and that’s because you wrote it. Keep writing! 💙

The wait is almost over! Join us this morning for the announcement of the 2025 ALA Youth Media Awards. #ALAYMA

Who here is watching the #ALAYMA awards this morning? I am! :) #kidslit #kidlit

One of the best things you can do right now is read books. Buy them. Borrow them from the library. Gift them. Read history. Read fiction. Read science writing. Read anything that shows you the world is bigger than what fascists say it is. Read to remember why your resistance matters. 📚💙

good morning

Five things to do today: 1. Make time for yoga/meditation, whatever movement or stillness works. 2. Turn off the TV, put your phone down, & go outside. 3. Spend time in nature. 4. Make something. A poem. Art. A cake. 5. Remember that the work will be there tomorrow. Care for yourself today.

Hey folks who follow me for morning #OceanDevotion videos— I’ve had a minor foot injury, so walking on the beach has been a bit tough over the last 1.5 weeks. Stand by—it’s coming back. In the meantime, here’s a nice one from Cape Cod from a couple of months back.

I'm thrilled to share that Log Life has been selected for the Pacific Northwest Book Award! It's such an honor to be listed with these other titles. #kidslit #stem @simonkids.bsky.social

Good morning! Back to work, but at least I get to start my day like this. #OceanDevotion
