I’ve always thought that it was just good parenting to stay away from the Catholic Church and from the Republican party.

Look, it’s simply an incredible string of coincidences that so many Republican officials turn out to be pedophiles.

So hard to be an educated woman with respect for expertise rn

So now, not only can foreign students not come here to study and do research, Americans can’t travel abroad to study and do research? Welcome to the American North Korea

see, the thing *i’m* genuinely worried about is that RFK will effectively ban vaccines

This is terrifying to me as a graduate of Hopkins’ school of public health, and one who did her master’s thesis on vaccination.

Breaking News: The health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. removed all 17 members of a CDC advisory panel in his latest move to dismantle years of vaccine policy.

Watching Andor and wondering if MAGA fans realize they’re the Empire

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

'Gaslighting' comes from the title of a 1938 play and the movies based on that play. The plots of which involve a man attempting to make his wife believe that she is going insane.

These days I look at the news and think, holy hell, this is bad. Really bad. And then I think about all the right-wing Christian patriarchy stuff that’s coming…

Are we great yet?

Watching S2 of “Andor.” “You are coming home to yourself. You are more than your fear.” Love this.

Law enforcement officers should never cover their faces when making arrests or conceal their identities (unless they are working undercover). They work for us. We have a right to know who they are. These face coverings are frightening & unAmerican, as though they're ashamed of what they're doing.

Thrilled to be at Strict Scrutiny’s live show tonight in DC. Such a good decision to come to the Bad Decisions Tour! #strictscrutiny

This is fucking ridiculous—but not surprising: The Missouri Supreme Court just effectively revived the state’s abortion ban, ignoring the fact that voters passed a pro-choice amendment in November.

Everything is awful but a pilot script of mine made it into the hands of a Hollywood exec and she loved it. I’m celebrating these little lights in the darkness.

JFC the news is bad

This is absolutely terrible news. With the shifting regulatory climate (i.e., antivax ratfuckery), Moderna has withdrawn their application for their eagerly anticipated COVID-flu combo vaccine. This vaccine offered better protection than getting each shot separately. h/t @merz.bsky.social

Andry José Hernández Romero, I remember you, even if I do not know how to articulate my horror, rage, & sorrow at your treatment by my government. No one has heard from you in 62 days. As vigil, I’m posting a photo of you every day until you are returned from El Salvador.

Tariffs hurt consumers of all kinds of goods. But Trump mentioned 'dolls'--not toy trucks, GI Joe's, video games, basketballs, squat racks or protein powder. His aim: cast the pain that consumers face as feminine and frivolous. @moiradonegan.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

We are not under invasion. There is no justification for suspending our constitutional rights. Every single American should speak out against this, loudly and forcefully.

The Library of Congress is a research library. The Congressional Research Service researches for Congress. Scholars & researchers apply for passes to research. NO children’s section. Even the general public has very limited access.

WH: Have tons of babies! Also WH: Watch babies die!

A decades-long campaign to prevent infants from dying in their sleep has become a casualty of the Trump administration’s federal workforce cuts, and doctors fear it could contribute to more infant deaths at a time when mortalities have already been rising. www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2025/...

NEW: The rate of sepsis in Houston surged 63% after Texas banned abortion. In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where hospital leaders empowered doctors to intervene before patients’ conditions worsened, it rose just 29%.

just so we’re all clear: the reason they keep using dolls as their example is because they’re trying to frame caring about material stuff as feminine and thus inherently shameful

I keep telling the women in my lives that they won’t lose their rights by EO but by a thousand cuts… a series of small, at-first-unnoticed, seemingly unimportant policy changes. We’ll be bleeding out before we feel any pain.

As long as I live, I will never understand coming down hard on people protesting the murder of children.

I’m a mother of four and pro-natalists would probably laud me. But MAGA policy ideas to increase the birthrate are regressive and creepy. Motherhood is hard and its labors unequal. Telling women to submit and stay home isn’t the answer. Women are people and need real choices.

One thing you notice about anti-feminism is that its public discourses are all about erecting a fantasy of men’s victimization that is clung to all the more desperately and insistently the more it contradicts the actual facts. So the more women are hurt, the more we’re told that men are suffering.

Really worthwhile read in The Guardian on the “womanosphere” by Anna Silman. Yikes. For more on retrograde anti-feminist and pro-natalist propaganda, there’s a great interview with Emily Amick on the latest Strict Scrutiny podcast. #strictscrutiny

This actually makes me emotional because it simultaneously shows the relevance of critical thinking, the arts, literature, history, and the law—and precisely why Trump is trying to erase all of them. Fighting back with liberal arts is an actual act of beauty.

Jail them all

Hold steady folks. An EO is not law and “Trump says” is not the last word.

The Public Broadcasting Act of 1967 created the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. I reread it today; nothing in the law allows a president to defund PBS and NPR. In fact, Congress specifically sought to insulate public media from political pressure.
