Costs and prices double about every 20 years or so - at the minimum. So if you are shocked by the cost of something, it's useful to think about how long it's been since you've priced or shopped for it and what your quality expectations were and are.

Classic Sweet N Sour Pork - recipe from an old electric wok cookbook - a lot of steps, but still the best sweet n sour sauce ever when you make it up from scratch. And the cornstarch makes the pork crunchy and holds the sauce on better.

I'd like to see a list of how much certain restorations cost in areas hit by natural disasters, so you can join a group to raise enough for specific things like rebuilding homes or providing temporary housing or power to X many people. I think it would encourage donations.
