The Republican budget plan: -Cut SNAP by $230 billion -Cut Medicaid by $880 billion -Give $1.1 trillion to the top 1%

fascinating article by @nitinjainmd.bsky.social et al on a series of 14 patients that discontinued TKI in Ph+ ALL with many of them maintaining a treatment free remission! pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39980368/

more HMA+VEN in CBF-AML! This analysis specifically focuses on inv16 (CBFβ::MYH11+) -37 treated patients and 100% CR/CRi rate -all but one patient received cytarabine-based consolidation -2y OS 97% haematologica.org/article/view...

a helpful study looking at HMA+VEN vs IC induction in newly diagnosed CBF-AML -no significant difference in CR within inv16 group -significantly higher CR rates with IC within t(8;21) group -limited discussion regarding subsequent consolidation after induction www.nature.com/articles/s41...

BREAKING: The Trump administration has announced that it will kill Medicare coverage of most telehealth services on April 1st.

They arrived at the United States border from around the world, hoping to seek asylum. Instead, they were detained, shackled and flown by the U.S. military to a faraway country, Panama. Our exclusive look at a new front in Pres. Trump’s immigration crackdown:

Do AML-based risk scores hold up for MPN-AP/BP treated w/ less-intensive therapy @bloodportfolio.bsky.social? We found: -ELN24 had most robust performance for OS (C-index: 0.60) -more work needs to be done to specifically develop risk scores for MPN-AP/BP! ashpublications.org/bloodadvance...

This is why you fight these cowards. The moment you stand up to them, they crumble. Homan has nothing. The Fourth Amendment is clear and I am well within my duties to educate people of their rights. He can threaten me with jail and call names all he wants. He’s got nothing else.

A nice review in @bloodportfolio.bsky.social on all things fedratinib including potential clinical applications outside of myelofibrosis! ashpublications.org/bloodadvance...

Very excited to share our review in CLML re challenging MPN scenarios! We focus on: -incorporation of molecular mutations into allo-HCT consideration in MF -splenomegaly in JAKi-treated patients -treatment options for MPN-AP/BP www.clinical-lymphoma-myeloma-leukemia.com/article/S215...

Decimating cancer research: the nation’s health is going exactly according to RFK Jr’s plan. He promised to “disrupt” health/health research—slashing cancer research is certainly highly “disruptive” Patients who were about to be enrolled in trials were told they no longer could enroll—such cruelty

This change will accomplish one thing - kill medical research in US academic institutions. That's not hyperbole and the best way I can explain this to the lay public. Slashing indirect costs to 15% is a move to destroy the academic enterprise. Pass it on. www.statnews.com/2025/02/07/n...

From USAID colleague, with permission to share. It's not just chaos it is devastation and tearing apart of families and communities. Not to talk of systems that kept us safe. This is just one story, multiple this by 10,000. Is this really making America great?

Censor CDC scientists and ask them to withdraw papers from medical journals? This is not how it works, Mr President. Our response @bmj.com on the Trump Executive Order and his "forbidden words" www.bmj.com/content/388/...

Kicking off a two-week stint on the inpatient leukemia service! Day 1 - considerations around prevention and treatment of accelerated/blast-phase MPNs @raajitrampal.bsky.social haematologica.org/article/view...

unfortunately for these folks the odds are that they aren’t going to go after violent criminals at all — too hard — and going to go exclusively over the easiest targets, which are law abiding workers

a very practical study in Haematologica supporting that the platelet cutoff of 50K for an LP is quite arbitrarty! haematologica.org/article/view...

how do TP53 mutations impact outcomes in MPNs (n=114)? -MPN-AP/BP has very poor outcomes -no patients with PV or ET had multi-hit TP53 -multi-hit MF with poor outcomes onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...

a very nice @bloodjournal.bsky.social review article on considerations around fitness in the treatment of AML! ashpublications.org/blood/articl...

UnitedHealthcare just appointed a new CEO after the murder of its previous one by alleged gunman Luigi Mangione. The new CEO fought government regulators' attempts to rein in health insurer use of algorithms to deny care

A very useful expert review on MRD assessment in ALL! @bloodportfolio.bsky.social ashpublications.org/bloodadvance...

If RFK Jr. were to lead the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), his dangerous views could undermine decades of public health progress. Here’s why his beliefs are harmful. His confirmation hearing is this week. Let your senators know he cannot lead HHS His beliefs are dangerous 🧵

My husband works for a federal department. He was just told that he is no longer able to wear his rainbow lanyard to work and that his year long project on equity must be terminated immediately. I am simultaneously horrified and driven.

Very disturbing @fda.gov. We need to enroll the types of patients to clinical trials who eventually will be treated by approved drugs! www.statnews.com/2025/01/23/f...

how does TP53 mutation impact pattern of relapse in B-ALL treated with blina? TP53m is associated with CD19- relapses @bloodportfolio.bsky.social ashpublications.org/bloodadvance...

i said a few times here and there before the election that we’ll see what the mass deportation plan looks like when it’s ICE agents dragging grandmothers out of churches and, well, here we are

It's the rush & delight in executing policies that will actively harm people that is getting to me. Affordable insulin is not a partisan issue. Last week I saw a type 1 diabetic in their 20s who is blind + on dialysis from complications due to years of not being able to reliably access insulin.

The Chicago skyline is a welcome sight on every flight back home!

Very helpful @bloodjournal.bsky.social review by @akritigjain.bsky.social & Aaron Gerds on anemia in myelofibrosis! ashpublications.org/blood/articl...

A small but informative experience regarding TKI cessation in patients with Ph+ ALL! haematologica.org/article/view...

thanks to @healthtreeorg.bsky.social to letting me highlight our work on assessing drivers of disparities in a Chicagoland cohort of patients with myelofibrosis! This work is being driven by @andrewthepalmer.bsky.social! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xdph...

Very useful study by Vikas Gupta at all looking at real-world treatment patterns in myelofibrosis! @bloodportfolio.bsky.social -low rates of allo-HCT in patients under 70yo -Rux is the most common initial therapy ashpublications.org/bloodadvance...
